1997 24V On e-slay that kinda has me puzzled. I know of a couple 1998. 5 12V new interior rigs ... some with extended cab no doors But have never seen a 1997 24 Valve. In fact the most Oddball I have seen to date are BadDna's rig which is a 98. 5 quad cab SWB no doors and retro breather system factory.

There is an 11/97 24valve running around this area, belongs to DTR member CumminsDieselBoy (I think that's it)

it was kind of weird to see the Old style dash with a 24V under the hood. I didn't think that th e older dash would work because of the caNBus system. Huh pretty cool.

Remember build dates and model years are two different things..... The new model year trucks can usually be had in late summer of the year prior... .

11/97 would be a 98 year model with the new (98) interior. The 98 year model sales start in (September) 9/97.

The engine pic has a silver radiator support. The truck is red...

More then likely the engine pic is a stock photo, and not one of the actual truck's motor.

I tried to decode the VIN and the check digit does not come out correctly based on Dave Fritz's web page on decoding the VIN. Has anyone else tried to decode the VIN?

It would not be a quad cab without rear opening doors, I'm sure that was a typo. The quad cab was an option so it was entirely possible to have an extended cab in 1998.

What do you mean by retro breather system????

Cook, I have seen the truck. Its an intense blue "quad Cab" without the "Quad" doors ... In fact it uses the std cab doors! Full bench in the back AND it's a short bed. The retro breather is the "Update" kit that was released a lil while back that eliminates the breather can. Instead it has the breather port in a new tappet cover that you have to install. (The long plate behind the ECM) His came factory with it which I thought was odd.

I found a new home for my old truck... ... But hopefully there will be some surprises for Fall Brawl with my wifes truck :-laf

Ok now I am confused :) Is that the truck in question?

It looks like an extended cab to me. As I said before the extended cab was still available in 1998 as well as the quad cab being available.

If there are no rear doors it is not a quad cab but an extended cab, same as 1995 - 1997.

Am I misunderstanding something here
