skipping ahead in a forum

Great amount of information in your forums. I would like to scan all pages for threads of interest. Is there a way I could skip ahead to a certain page instead of starting from 1 and going through each one? I got up to page 40 the other night and would like to start with page 41 tonight.

When you are on the first page of the thread; add "&page=41" to the end of the page address, without the quotes, then enter.

Can you further explain your question so I may too benefit... . I would like to be more efficient in my browsing of TDR. That said, I generally log each morning, with a cup of joe, and get "posts since last visit. " I do this because i do not want to miss any post (interesting or not) and continuously do this several time a day as to "not miss a subject. " This works so long as I do not laps and browse all "new posts. "



Is your request (and subsequent reply) more efficent for my means? i. e see folowing quote:... .

How will the above statment apply if new threads were added between "the other night" and ... "page 41 tonight. " would there be more added threads in between the time span that you might miss some posts?

... I would like to scan all pages for threads of interest... .

From the above caption... . are you trying to pick up where yuou left off (say from one evening to next morning *or to the next log- on*) and scan all of last nite's uread replies as well as all new ones?

EDIT: This as with many other replies, I will type, preview, edit etc ... and then " back page SEVERAL times to get back to my original browse starting point!" Glad to have DSL at the office, but it is cumbersome at home with dial - up?... and... by that time I will have had to refresh, retry ..... yada, yada, yada... just to get back to my starting point as to not lose my place in reviewing "new posts!!!" Champion surfer I am not :-laf

Sorry for being long winded in my last question... I guess what I was trying to say is this: By the time I get all done reading a thread (with it's many posts during a given period and by the time I get done with my reply AND THEN back paging to my original start of the the 'new post page'... . well- what was once new is now old and I have to wiat for a new response for it to be new "AGAIN" (<-- said in a Forrest Gump tone)... or do a search for "last days replys" for me to see the topic again.

There is a 15 minute timeout which resets your last visited time. Try refreshing your browser periodically if you are reading a really long thread (every 10 minutes or so) and you shouldn't have that problem.

I guess I wasn't real clear, I'll try again. I want to look back through all the old threads to see if there is some info I can use on my '99 dually. Say I got to page 40 one night and had to knock off. The next time I came on I would like to start where I left off. Paychk told me how to start with the page I stopped on the previous night. However, with the new threads and posts page 40 may not be the same page as far as content is concerned. So I may have to do a little looking around to get to the same place. Hope this clears up my question a little better, thanks Jeff

There's no way to directly do what you are looking for. As new posts come in your posts are going to move backwards. The only thing you could do is use the previous thread/next thread links at the top or bottom of the last thread (don't close the window when your done) to continue on but that's assuming you want to read every single thread. Otherwise you'll have to go to your page and then go back a couple more to get back to where you were.

Gotcha! After I got to thinking about it, the only way it would work is if the page numbers were reversed and page one were the oldest threads or posts and as new ones came in the page numbers went up. Just being able to go to a specific page and then go back until I find where I left off will work just fine. Thanks for the help! Jeff

Each post has a # associated with it, just note the # you left off at and contiune from there next time. Anyone know a way to get directly to a post # when opening up a thread?
