Bob,

Just out of curiosity, were you bottoming out your truck with the VR coils, or the HD coils?

thanks

Greg told me I did not want the VR coils,he said they were noisey and uncomfortable on the hyway. I thought he was the expert? I had known Greg for years from hangin out at diesel events around the west. He knew I drive hard,I stayed right on his backside following him in my 94 with just my dual shock Rancho set up.

I was under the impression that the Race system would take more than my d rated bfg. s. I have pics taken by a friend of the shocks bottoming out on them selves, and the wasted housing inthe back yard  . All this just at Glamis no Baja that everybody says is so much more harsh.

What are you talking about. KORE uses the Bilstien 5100 that can bought at any part store and was included in my Superlift 4. 5" Lift

The RECON SERIES uses the same high-performance VR coils and mini leaf packs as the RACE and Chase SERIES yet incorporates the legendary Bilstein 5100 Series shock. :-laf

I am going to keep this simple. Yes the Recon shock is a 5100 series bilstein, although the valving is nothing like the Superlift bilstein shock. And that valving does not exist in any other 5100 series shock either for that matter. I would like to know of this part store that carries the Kore 5100 bilstein shock and puts in the superlift kit?

I was talking to Greg about getting mine trussed back in 05. He would never give me any straight answers so I had to do it myself. I wish you would have come forward sooner. Since my KORE race system bottomed out to easy and a lack of support from DRC I have had to spend a bundle to get my truck back in shape. I hope your being on here will save others from going through what I had to.

Bob

Hey Bob sorry I did not come forward sooner. Greg and I were great friends and we did a lot of business together, just wanted to keep it ethical. I do hope you got your problems solved. Hearing you speak makes me think you got it handled right. It sounds like you know these trucks pretty well. Thanks for the info. I will do my best to help people out.

Bob,

Everyone has their preferences and Greg may have preferred the HD coil. Personally, I'm a big fan of the VR coil. I've driven many miles with both and I think that for hard off road use, the VR cannot be beat. I've yet to bottom out with it and I've driven them pretty hard.

You might want to give them a try sometime to see what you think. I'd be pretty impressed/surprised if you could bottom them out.

The one part I forgot to add is that the VR coil is designed for 3rd Generation trucks, not 2nd. So, I'm not sure which truck of yours we are talking about.

The 3rd gen,I have it all taken care of now. Thanks for the interest. I have tryed a variety of springs from different sources,Fabbed and installed a front truss, and dropped the truck off at Carli's supension for his full on system. It has proven to be an awesome system,no more bottoming, good street manners. Now the only issue is it is so fast through the rough stuff that it should probably be caged. Greg and I talked about this on both of our trucks in the past. Maybe things would be better today if we both would have caged.

Bob

Nowhere on KORE's site does it say anything about custom re-valved 5100's. All its says is the Lengendary 5100. To tell you the truth Ive never heard of a custom vavled 5100. The 5100 that came with my Superlift look exactly the same as the regualr and KORE's 5100's. Mine dont have lame stickers on them and came sealed in a Bilstien box. Its still the same shock, with possably different valving. .

Bob please cage your truck. After pre-running in Baja, I have realized how fast these trucks can go and handle the terrain. We both know how heavy they are and how weak the lid is. This is definately my next upgrade, which should have been my first. Let me know how yours turns out.

I agree with that,I am just trying to figure out how to do it w/out loosing seating and still be able to fix things as the fail. It may have a killer engine but it's still a Dodge :(
