I'll admit, that's not difficult sometimes but...

I'm finding all the parts and part numbers I need to get my truck lifted. I called in to Skyjacker because I wanted part numbers for replacing all my springs and adding 3". The guy gave me D200CS and DR40S and said it would only be 2. 5" in the front and 1" in the rear.

When I looked them up on Skyjacker's site, D200CS is 2" in the front and DR40S is 4-6" in the rear but when factory blocks are removed, its reduced to 3. 5".

I want to make sure I understand this: these sets should be full spring replacement and the numbers listed (4", etc) are what the extra height of the springs are? If I am correct in thinking this, the smallest full set of springs for the rear that they have for my truck is 4" (3. 5" minus the factory block).

So, if that's the case, I'll go up to 4" but then what is the tallest tire I can get away with if I want 16x10 wheels? ( <-- click for wheel photo)

If want some more cunfusion, the D200CS springs are the same springs as 4 inch gas truck front springs I think the part # is D400S, but under the weight of the cummins they become 2 inch. I know this because the D200CS sticker was stuck right on top of the D400S gas sticker. So if you can get a better deal on the gas springs, buy them, and you'll be getting the same thing. Also our trucks have a 6" rear block, so removing them will lose you 6 inches, unlike the gas 3. 5" blocks that their talking about.

That's not too confusing. I understand now. So, if I want 3" in the front, buy the springs that are 5" and if I want 3" more in the rear, buy ones that are 4-6" and leave in the block - correct?

The guy at Skyjacker also said they recommend an adjustable drag link and a component box. I'm going to start looking into Bilstein shock numbers tonight too.

I don't have experience with their rear springs on a diesel, but did buy them for my gas truck and I had to keep my 3. 5 inch blocks to get the amount of lift I ordered. I didn't want the adjustable drag link, because I wanted the wearing parts to stay as stock replacement parts and not something special I'd have to order. So I used a drop pitman arm on my diesel for the 2" lift, and a pitman arm and raised steering arm on my 6" gas truck lift. Both kept the stock drag links with no problem.

I have the D200CS springs up front and the 6" springs (don't recall part#) with a 1" block in the rear. The truck sits slightly tail high, which makes it just right when it's loaded. If you want to run 35" tires, get the 4" fronts and use the 6"ers in the rear with the appropriate block to level the truck. I used to have 35s on my truck, but with my current set-up they no longer fit (yes, I wanted my truck lower).

Travis. .

Thanks guys, I decided to go with the Skyjacker 4" lift and Bilstein shocks - I'll get 'em when I can find them in stock somewhere!
