I am about to get the 4. 5" Skyjacker lift kit with the there rear "soft ride" leaf pack. My question is should I go ahead and get the dual front shock set up or not.

I have researched all the lift kits I am aware of, and the Skyjacker looks like the the best (can't afford KORE or Kelderman).

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Coonrod

I think they make the best lift so far for the 3rd gens. Dual front shocks will make it ride a little rougher, but handle better off-road. It depends what you are doing with it. I would get them just cause it looks cool.

Yes, I agree with you on the cool factor. This truck will not see much offroad.

Do you know if they use 1 shock inside the coil spring and 1 out side or both out side, or is it actually a triple shock set up 1 inside 2 outside

Did you ever get the lift? I am looking for a lift right now, but want to maintain stock ride or maybe even a little better... . What are your thoughts on the kit?

John :D

Coonrod,

I just called Skyjacker and asked about the lift listed on their website . They list a 5" and a 4" under part #D4513K. I saw on the Rocky Mountain website that diesels would get 4. 5" of lift, and gas trucks would get 5". When I called Skyjacker, they say that you get 5" in the front and 4" in the back. Jack-it's website lists only a 5" kit which I think is correct.

Can anyone that has actually installed this kit with the replacement leaf springs confirm the lift heights?

I just called Skyjacker again and spoke with a different rep. I decided to ask him the same question to see if the answer would be consistent. Sure enough, the answer was different this time. He said that diesel vehicles would get 4. 5" of lift and that the replacement leaf springs would lift the rear of the truck 3. 5". This is consistent with what is on the Rocky Mountain website.

I called to ask about when the dual tube traction bars would be out, and he said that they're working on it, but he didn't have a release date yet.

I called a local 4x4 shop in my area and they could actually get me the Skyjacker kit I want for almost $300 cheaper than what I found at a couple of online retailers. I was surprised.

I had the dual shocks on my 01 and it was a rough ride. I would definitely buy bilsteins. I had the 4. 5" skyjacker with nitro shocks. The lift was good quality but the bumpstops for the front were crap they were about 5" long rubber pieces that fit in the stock holder and they fell out on the first hit on them. I bought some for a older chevy and cut the top off and slipped it over the bracket on the truck and welded em in place no more problems.

I had a 1st Gen skyjacker lift on my 1995 2500 with dual shocks.

Never again will I get dual shocks, it rode like a bucking bull.

Looked cool but hard on the kindney's.

Maybe a good valved shock would have worked but out of the box / kit I would pass.

Don't be fooled by someone saying that duals are better for the heavy diesel. The springs are for that.

Well today I bought the 4" Superlift Rockrunner system. I talked to a few local shops and they all said that they have had really good luck out this kit. Said that the ride is better. One said he would rather sell me the Skyjacker kit because he would make more $ off it, but I would be more happy with the Superlift.

I got the Rockrunner kit for $1250 delivered with shocks.

PM me and I can get you the phone # for this place.
