No, I already run the 12v Master and Slave in my 04. 5

If you go dual disc its a must unless you want to push your truck off the highway!!

I ordered a dual friction, and decided whenever I put the clutch in, I would go ahead and replace the slave cylinder while I have it apart. What all did you have to modify for the 12v assembly?

I currently use a southbend dd with the stock slave. I have only had to push the truck off the road once after doing a fourth gear launch. The stock slave lasted about 1 year, and half of that was with the dd clutch. The stock one will work good for a while but I reccomend going with the 12v slave. Peter at southbend has them already fabed up for the 3rd gens.

Cancel the order and get a South Bend DD, Mitchell or Haisley clutch.

Centerforce is probably not even as good as the OEM 04. 5, 05 clutch assembly for the 6 speeds.

12v slave? What is it? Engineered for the 12v trucks? I had a South Bend clutch installed a few months ago and still running the stock slave. Am I asking for trouble down the road? How hard is it to replace yourself?

I believe these guys are talking about a slave cylinder from the old 12v trucks, which must be stronger than the ones in 3rd gen trucks.

Which DD clutches are demanding the upgrade? My understanding was the 3150# (or whatever the light plate load one is) was fine with a stock slave but the 3800# or anything higher demanded the switch. Can anybody comment on this?

The reason why I ordered a centerforce is because a couple of friends of mine have them in their trucks, and are very happy with them. The reason for a slave cylinder is because a friend of mine just has a medium clutch in his truck and he has popped his slave cylinder 3 times in the past 2 years. I may change my mind and go with a south bend clutch though.
