Competition Here we go...

Competition Maybe a little too much nitrous????

I realize that things break... . Lets take a U-joint for example. Is it the shock loading that breaks them when you start to hop, or is it acutally like a socket U-joint... you get axle wrap and they flex beyond their capacity?

I'd love to pull more I'm just concerned about breaking parts. Ladder bars are next on my list. Then Drive shaft loops. I may buy them... then again... I know a couple of very good welders... I may build a set. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

After those are installed... what is a usual break point?

Spider gears, pinion gears, axle shafts, transmission shafts, etc...

The 'Fat Kid' can't run a decent bead... you're better off making the traction bars on your own. :-laf

If I'm just looking at Misc rear end parts... I'm not so scared. transmission... Well Goerends has a couple guys double the HP I'm putting down... same transmission... and not breaking anything.

Traction bars... Well you haven't seen me lay a bead yet!

Josh, sled pulling is one of those things where you gotta ask yourself do you feel lucky?;) . Seriously , the track conditions play a huge part, our local track is so loose and smooth it is very hard to break anything, others are much stickier, and that with wheel hop will break lots of things very quickly. I know the D70 in the auto 2500s is a weak spot,as is the u joints, spiders, rear yoke, and the axle shafts once you start adding lots of power. i have been lucky so far, no problems from sled pulling.

i have never busted a u joint. broke a pinion in a dana 70 and a couple of sets of spider gears in an 80. 2 chargers and that is all of my pulling carnage. wheel hop is a bad thing. tires not spinning out is another bad thing. both tend to break stuff.

Nah. I briefly tried Cub Scouts as a kid when I was too young for Boy Scouts. I quickly grew bored with all the crap you had to go through - especially the fund raisers. At that age, I just wanted to go in the woods and build forts! Sometimes, I still just want to go in the woods and build forts... :-laf

When I read the above I had a flashback to those old SNL episodes when they had the Jack Handy'isms with the greeting card type background.

Well, sorry to interrupt... :D

Getting mad isn't going to fix it, might as well laugh about it, I just felt lucky the disc didn't come through the floor!
