Competition questions about reedsville

I took part in my third pull, second event last night at Clearfield. 13th out 0f 20. 13 of the 20 were under 195' and the winner was @ 235' with me at 191. I pulled in 3 low. I have 4. 10's and about 400hp. Here are a few questions:

1: I need more wheel speed. Do I have any other gear options with the power level I am at?

2: I have read several posts that 2hi is a weak gear and to avoid it. I just want confirmation.

3: With the exception of major pump work is there anyway to get higher rpm fueling out of my pump?

With the exception of not enough wheel speed there was no bouncing and everything worked well. I had a lot of fun.

Final comments are the Clearfield pull was about the best in this area that I have been too. Full Pull Productions did an incredible job. Kudos to them and USA East. This is a very addicting hobby. Some thanks go out to a few people. The openess of the TDR to share their ideas and information. Traction bars and loops designed after Lsfarm and BBD. Reading Sled Puller's posts on how to pull. I am one of those that thinks he does know what he is talking about regarding pulling. PSU-CE for easing my concerns about pulling and the TDR in general.

Thanks

1. no

2. With a 271 transfer case you should be ok (you dont have one yet).

3. I'll let someone more qualified answer that one.

3. You can put a washer in the governor springs that just fits inside the outter spring

You could give some clicks on your governor springs

Check your full throttle stop, you might be able to adjust it for more RPM.

2. How many people have broken a 241HD using the high side of it?

get rid of those 191 dv's and get a set of laser cuts they make a huge difference. i have 3:55 gears and pull in 3rd low and have no problem with wheel speed. you could try finding a set of 3:55 or try pulling in 4th low. i think your pump is too small also try finding a good deal on a 215 pump. for high rpm fueling set your timing high, like some where around 30*

Thanks for the info. I figured with the 4. 10's I was stuck with 3low until I get more power. From what I have read 4 low is too much jump in ratio for the power I am at. The springs are tightened a little bit more than they were. Timing is at 15. 5. I will ultimately take the pump to a shop, just not right now. I have a line of two other pumps. One is a 215 and I'm not sure what the other one is. They are for free if the deal comes through. The fellow that has them isn't overly reliable though. So if it does happen which pump do you send? I will stay away from the high side for now and work on 'technique'. I was advised regarding the LC DV's from sleddy as well, but then I see that folks are running a lot of fuel with 181's and 191's. Z, can i presume that you have more pump work done so the 181's work well for you? Once again thanks for all the info, more suggestions are always welcome.
