Competition Sled Pulling Hitch

I'm looking for ideas how to properly design/build a sled pulling hitch.



I would like to build it adjustable. I found some lunettes (pintle hook rings) at Northern Tool on sale for $25. 10k rated though. Would that be a good start? They have a big bolt with nut on the end, like 1 1/4" or so.

No the one with the threads at the end is not the one you want.

You want the one with the channel that slides up and down.



Here is an example of the channel and loop with 2" solid stock with a channel gusset:

Is that something built or bought? the only other lunettes I saw where ones to slide into the reciever. Only think is my hitch is a bit over 26"

You can buy the channel and eye from ebay or northern tool.

Other than those 2 pieces the rest is fabricated. I had my local welding shop do the one in the picture... . I just supplied the specs on paper.

Darryl Poole make a sweet pulling hitch. It can be adjusted within 1/2 inch. 6 inches up or down.

Not sure who that is. What's the cost? I'm figuring it will cost me about $60 to make it myself.

Does that slide in your reciever? If so, I assume you drilled a hole for the pin, right? Its still sexy, so don't get mad
