Back to the subject now:



Well with our 17" rims the 315 is a 35". Ok I'll restate that. Go with a 285 or 295.



Oh yeah and jacking up the truck to get the blocks in is a good thing. Let that be a lesson to you!! Having the truck blocked and raised in the rear will help you maintain proper pulling geometry (did I just say that?) while pulling.

Keeps the truck going downhill! :-laf (watch video #2 in my sig to see what I am talking about).



In your video your truck was going up hill the whole time which is a no no.

Give a nod to Sled Wanker's advice.



Were it *my* truck, I would drop the hitch height to 20" or 22" and tune until I had the system (the truck) pulling smoothly. Then I would start raising the hitch until something breaks. Then I would fix and re-tune the system before raising the hitch height any more. Newbie sled pullers really shouldn't be pulling at 26" anyway, unless they are independently wealthy and can afford to keep throwing parts at their trucks.

WOW, back when I was pulling a sled you couldn't get much advice around here. HOW I didn't break my 70, I don't know--mostly luck I presume.



Well now that there is information to ponder--it may have been small tires and low hitch. I DID put substantial bars on after the first pull. Oh and lack of power. Little pump and little turbo back then, but I'm still a sub 500 truck.



I plan to go back to the track with a dual disc and a dana 80 eventually. And blocks. 285's with tread or 315's without--depends on the track. Probably start with 285's until I learn to manage the clutch.



Yall keep handing down the secrets, I won't tell nobody.

Yep Sleddie, I've officially hooked 6 times. One first, two seconds, third, fourth, and fifth. Couple of pull-offs. Fun stuff. Quite interesting when you prevail over much more powerful rigs. But then ALL these trucks were daily drivers. One has left the pulling competition to become a full-bore drag racer. Some of them do both.



It is rumored that the local pulling association will be making a regular class of us for the next season. Long story--but it equals a good sled and plenty of pulls within 50 miles.



We've also played with a "practice sled". Pull it down, then pull it back. Not real heavy but it does weight transfer and is more challenging with a chain under the plate.



Come on down to the bigarse indoor pull in January in Murfreesboro. Last year was the first one. That was my first look at the big names in person--and quite interesting when the track was too short to stop some of the trucks.



Maybe they'll use water barriers instead of sand this year.

I'd hate to say it, but Shed Putter has never steered me wrong! Justin is also pretty free with the information. I've pulled 5 or 6 times and have a few firsts and nothing worse than a forth, everything I know I've learned on here. Ask away and we'll try to steer you in the right direction.

Well simpletons are easily amazed. I guess I am just taking cheap jabs and I should probably apologize(fat chance though), but you run your mouth more than any person I know. The DHRA events were well run this year(that is a sincere compliment), but what gripes me is the way the rules appear to be going. You guys appear to be taken two steps back. Back to a few years ago when there was an RPM limit, but it wasn't enforced. Tell me Gene can you tell me exactly how many RPM an engine is turning by allowing someone on your tech crew to just listen to it? I may be way off base here, but is there an RPM limit this coming year? Will it be enforced? Maybe your simpleton mind has some brilliant plan on how to tech for RPM, but from the conversations I have heard so far, it sounds like zero enforcement of the RPM limit. If it is a rule Gene it needs to be clear, defined, and enforced!!
