Competition What gear should I pull??

Competition Automatics own the night again!!

I have 2 video's from last weeks Jackson Co. pull in Seymour, Indiana.

One run is of my truck, the other is a Terry Coppess's Haisley truck.

How can I get these uploaded to the net, and linked to?

Justin,

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but Terry and Scott Amos are about the only automatic guys that are getting the power to the ground, and whipping standard trucks.

I think it would be good for all to take a look at that video.

Yeah Gene, your right!

Terry won the pull that night.

But there is more, George Peterson and Chris Harness 24v both auto's had good runs and filled out the top 3 spots of the night!

These guys are whipping the manuals.

Terry won the Muncie street class with an Auto.

Yep, never thought I'd see it or say it. But sticks are out, ATS autos are in. I've only seen a couple of stick trucks win this year, in single charger classes anyway. Hey gene... I bet you can't pull the front tires out of the hole like Papa Smurf can!

Give me time, money and I'll get my auto out there to play too! The problems of being 25, single and having a house! House or truck... which to spend money on first... ... .

What kind of power are the auto guys putting down? Compairable to Manuals or less?

Josh

That was my roughest run yet.

The track was hurtin that night.

I had to clutch it at the end, it was getting real rough!

You can hear the sled shaking/bouncing!

Full load and down shifting from 3rd to 2nd in nuts, you guys aren't afraid of breaking stuff... ... guess there budget is bigger than mine.

Jim

It looked like that SRW long bed (2500 or 3500?, dark blue in color) broke a rear driveshaft at the end? Either that or he let up too soon cuz of EGTs or something else. The back end just jumped up right when the weight of the sled was slowing him down.

Who owns the red 2500 that did the burn-out and had two pulls in the videos? I'd like to know more about what he has for a drivetrain set-up(DL loops, traction bars, gear ratio).

Great videos, BTW!

that's actually my truck, what would you like to know.

i have a rear set of driveshaft loops, at that time i had a bd transmission. i am now switching over to dtt. i actually had a set of fab tech traction bars for the dana 70 and i have thise for sal, becuase i switched rear ends to the dana 80.

Which one Jim, the Red one right? I was wondering who had the dark blue one as well.

I would like to know if you are running the stock driveshafts or anything special to beef up the drivetrain? Just curious cuz I am going to be pulling my truck for the first time and besides the driveline loops I plan on installing, I wanted to know how the rest of the driveline has held up to your considerate amount of power, which BTW, is how much?

yes the red one is mine. that year at may madness i dyno'd 731rwhp. at the schied event that year i snapped my pinion so i upgraded to the dana 80 with 1480 series u joints. that's the only thing i have broke, but i have pulled less than 10 times with my truck.

Ok, that sounds like the way to go for the rear. What about the front driveline? Is it still stock and are you running loop in it as well?

Just tryin' to get an idea if I am going to need a front loop as well, cuz the rear is a definate.

Being that you are pushing amost twice the amount of HP that I am I think I should be safe from breaking a driveline but then again, my tires are probably a lot heavier than yours but not much taller @ 37"? How tall are your tires?

Who knows though, there is only one way to find out, just hope it is not the hard way. :{
