Slide in Capmper ???

We are selling out 5er and getting a slide-in. Two questions so far. First, I have the rails for my 5er hitch in the bed. Do I have to take these out, or can I just fashion two more blocks in the front and rear of the bed? Second, I have a dually, and how do you back it under the camper and clear the front jacks? My guess is that you get the front of the camper on the rear of the bed, raise the front jacks, and slide it in.

I have a fifth wheel and slide-in. I left the rails in the truck, and cut 2 sheets of 3/4 in plywood, (CDX) to fit in front, between, and behind the rails, and I screwed them together. It basically makes a new floor in the bed 1 1/2 inches higher, with the rails separating the pieces of plywood in the center. I did it this way to support the entire bottom of the camper. After about 6 years, though, they finally rotted through, and since I don't pull the 5th any more, I just took the rails out, and threw the wood away. I can't answer the dually part, since I don't have one, and my jack system won't fit on a dually anyway. I would think the front jacks would be wide enough to back the truck through them, otherwise, loading and unloading the slide-in would be a real pain.

I have a 5th wheel and a slide-in camper. I have the B&W so don't have the rail problem.



DO support the whole bottom of the slide-in. The bottoms are built tough, but you will want to distribute the weight to as much surface area as possible.



My Lance has swingout jacks on the front to accomodate a 3500.



Lift the entire camper and back under. It is recommended to always keep the front of the camper higher while off the truck. Prevents tipping. I've never had a problem with tipping on mine. I keep it on a dolly so I can move it about if necessary.

Thanks, y'all. I think I'll do the plywood thing, and make sure I get swing-out jacks. BTW, what's up with some of these campers that cost over $40 g's? Holy crap, batman!! That's more than my 5er cost!
