Terry: I've put about 50,000 miles on my camper (including two trips to Alaska) since 1995. Measured weight has been between 10,300 and 10,800 pounds. The only 'safety' issue I've had was with the OEM Goodyears coming apart at about 1/2 their tread life (probally from running right at their rated max load). A few years ago I started using a duel wheel setup on the rears and have not had a tire problem since. Check it out at dualwheels.com. I've never seen anyone else with this setup, but it works for me; I do a fair amount of beach camping and off road with the camper. The best setup for tire overload I've seen is the Ricka 19. 5" wheels with 'G' rated tires. If I were to do it over, I would seriously consider the Ricka wheels.

110,000 miles and counting.

I weigh in about the same as LandShark with the camper loaded. I also tow a 3000 lb boat and trailer. No problems. Stock Michelins are still holding up well after almost 30K.

IM ABOUT THE SAME AS LEE, EXCEPT 4000# BOAT/TRAILER. 11. 5 FLEETWOOD LOADED W/GEN AC ECT. (ALSO 4000#) HIGH QUALITY SWAY BAR HELPED ME A GREAT DEAL. WITH THIS WEIGHT I HAVE TO RUN MY BAGS AT PRITTY MUCH MAX. (100 psi)

How long have you had your Ricka Adapters? Do you have fenders, too? If so, what do you use?
I'm looking at doing a conversion, too, but only for pulling my 32' gooseneck cargo trailer. Like you, I want to convert back when not loaded. My only concern is finding, or fabbing, some tempo fenders.
Thanks.

Hi Terry,
I have a 94 Lance 10'-8" Squire 8000 that has a dry weight of 2900lbs. according to the manufactures tag. With AC, Generater and all my gear I estimate it at 3800 - 4000. I never actually had it weighed. I hauled this for three years on a 3/4 ton chevy truck before I bought my Ram. The chevy handled it fine with Firestone Ride Rites on the rear. Just not enough power for my taste. The Dualy handles it 100% better though. No suspention aids and less sway and side to side motion. Wind is also MUCH less of a problem with the dually.
With the truck at 7000 lbs and the camper at 4000lbs. I'm still maxed out as far as GVW is concerned but you would never know it.
