Could somebody please explain sliding the plate forward and its benefits? Will it increase MPG? If so how is it done? What all does bombing consist of? Also, what is the benefit of removing or gutting the converter, i heard several different opinions on here about it. I am looking for ways to increase MPG, I have double and triple checked fuel lines for leaking, have changed air and fuel filters and don't put my foot into it. Any suggestions. 1995 2500 4x4 auto 110,000 mi. sticker under hood says 3. 5 gear ratio? Currently 14MPG HWY!!

2shus, how long since you have adjusted the valves?. My mileage went in the dumper and I was looking in all the wrong places for a cure. I had 2 Cummins mechanics tell me the first thing to do is adjust the valves and I said ya-ya done that. but when nothing else worked, I adjusted the valves, went from 13 to 19 1/2. Take some time and do it cold. It may seem like they are not all far off but a little makes a big difference. I'm kinda new here and have not slid the plate yet but from what I've read on the TDR website, sliding the plate makes it go but it won't improve your MPG's. If the band going to play, someone's got to pay!!!
