3 screws seem to hold fine!

Getting my KDP done tommrow,

change the oil and if time permits slide the Plate.

Just plug the jumper line that runs from the bottom of your turbo to the afc housing. just cut the rubber line part and stick a bolt in both ends and call it good. Push the plate all the way up and adj. the star wheel untill the spring is loose. this should get you about 270hp and kill the transmission in no time. and about 45psi:--)

Man your Extreme!! I dont want to play with fire, I just wanna little more and a little more... . I slide the plate cranked AFC and added no boost, and It picked up real good!! I also got the KDP fixed, it was out about 1/3rd timinva a member of the DTR here in virginia beach did the work great person to twist wrenches for the diesel impaired.

Finally got the guts to slide my stock plate and afc housing last friday. There is a noticable difference in high end power, but didn't see the low end response I was looking for. Didn't mess with the star wheel. What will adjusting the star wheel do? Didn't look to see where the gov lever is hitting the plate. May need to adjust gov lever to get more fuel at low end.
 
the star wheel will bring the fuel in quicker, and should help out w/ the bottom end.



a lever adjustment can bring fuel in sooner, but it can also cause defuel sooner up top.

Dont forget the Smoke!! turning the star wheel all the way makes a lot of smoke, I turned mine back a few turns less smoke power still stayed up. got a replacement screw for the break off from a hardware store now its easy to play with the AFC and plate.

heres a question? with the stock plate and AFC and the star wheel all the way foreward you get lots of smoke indicating a

high fuel low boost condition, if you change the boost control

say from 20Lbs to 25Lbs would that make up for the unburnt fuel

and make more power? or will it do nothing other than make boost.

more fuel more boost = more power right?
 
the AFC has little to do with max boost/fuel... it just allows the lever arm to move forward earlier.



so the AFC will cause smoke, but then once the boost comes in it clears up the smoke. if you're getting smoke at full boost, you may want to turn up the boost :D

I got to change my oil !! Fleetguard/Rottella

Somehow the Plate fairy left a #8 Plate on my seat;)

so I got to change the the plate and add a adjustable boost elbow, "TST Kit" all went well 3 screws for the AFC the 4th is on the frame somewhere! one problem I ran into is when we moved the stock plate foreward I didn't mark the stock location:eek:

so I had to guesstamate. I guessed wrong the first time. not much has changed, except Boost, "up to 27lbs form 17" I'm going to slide it foreword about 1/6th at a time until it wakes up. that is if it ever stops raining here. Let you know what happens

If you install the adjustable boost elbow does that make it easier to adjust when the wastegate opens rather than adjusting it on the turbine? My set screw in my boost elbow is loctited in there pretty good. I am not running it but was thinking about it for my uncle's '95 cuz I am going to move his stock plate all the way forward and wanted to know if I can achieve more boost through the elbow rather than messing with the rod on the wastegate to clear up any potential smoke upon full boost?

I started playing with my AFC and plate recently. I only slid it about 1. 5 millimeters forward and it definitely helped. I adjusted the AFC about 80% forward.



I did this partly to troubleshoot a problem with weak midrange power. It had good power off idle but then not much difference between 1/4 and full throttle. . . then really come alive at 2000 RPM.



The pump hadn't been touched before I got into it but for some reason the engine pulls strong right to 3000 RPM . . . no falloff at all until just before it hits the govenrnor. I think the pump could use a good tune-up, it's gone 352k Miles with no service.

Naaaahhhh! They should be good to at least 450,000-500,000 just like the engine life. :)
 
I would swap in an adjustable If I were you, It makes life easy,

and you can set the boost that works best for you. I have mine set at 27PSI and that good for me!



P. S. bust the screw loose from the loctite and have at it just dont go to far.
