I was thinking of sliding my #8 TST plate forward.

I have a few questions for anyone who has already done this...

1. Is there much difference in power?

2. Does it produce more smoke?

3. Do I need to do the Governor Lever Adjustment after moving the plate forward?

4. Does the EGT run higher?

Thanks in advance for any input

When I moved mine forward to get the top end fuel I needed, I got a lot of blue smoke at cold idle. I've been told that the rocker doesn't even touch the plate at idle so it doesn't matter where it's at. I don't think so. I colored my plate with a black magic marker so I could see the contact points after some run time. That helped me figure out where I needed to grind. Mine is a 215 w/11 plate but it's the same principle. I first ground the 11 main fuel profile into my stock plate (on a surface grinder - a file wouldn't touch mine). Then I ground the max stop forward til I got the top end fuel I wanted. I put the rocker right where Piers says, on a stock plate. The results - with the right zero air and afc adjustment, it's VERY crisp and clean running at the lower rpms and scary at the top end. Craig

1. Going full forward can result in quite a noticable increase in power, I would guess up to 30hp.

2. Yes, it will produce more smoke

3. No, you shouldn't need to adjust the governor lever

4. Yes, egt's will run higher, it's not a calibrated increase in fueling.
