Hi guys,

I have a 04. 5 QC CTD 4x4 with an NV5600 and about 41K miles on it and I noticed today that it has a slight front end vibration and whine. Is this one of the unit bearings going bad? All the U-Joints are tight and the axle and transmission fluids have been changed as per D/C's requirements.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Andre

I would get the fr. end up on jack stands , then try to duplicating the sound with the ft. off the ground , it may or may not bring sound into cab with the weight off the ft. end .
There is a cheap tool to get , its a stethasope that has a metal rod at the end of the listening end , with the ft. axial running , touch the rod of your new tool to all the areas that house bearings , the loudest area is where the problem is .
this can be done with a long handled screw diver , but its safer & you can hear more with that tool [ Napa & a lot of parts house's have them ] also go for exhaust & vacume leaks , take the end off & just use the hose .

Take the front driveshaft out and take it to a local, reputable driveline shop for balancing and probably u-joints. I found if you need the CV joint replaced, it's just as cheap to order a new shaft end-end from the dealer.
