Hello,

I was driving home from work this evening (had just got off I-96) and noticed a jeep liberty that didn’t look like a normal liberty per say. (Slight styling differences) then I noticed it had a manufactures license plate on it. Finally I saw three capital letters in the lower right hand part of the tailgate that read as follows: CRD or Common Rail Diesel!

I pulled along side of it in the left hand turn lane however I could not hear it over my truck. Now I really believe it will be here in 2005.

If I was a prophet I would hazard pretty soon this place will be crawling with CTD powered jeep creeps. :D

Back in the days of olden, when I was possessed by a LandRover I had a friend who had two diesel four banger LandRovers. I think a diesel four banger jeep would be the ticket for crawling around the knolls, knobs, kettles, kames, dells, and the occasional hills. Oo.

My wife likes my diesel and loves her 04 Liberty. She's looking forward to seeing th CD version and probably trading hers in.

I believe it will be a German diesel in those libertys, and yea my wife is wide eyed on getting one because she loves my truck. I do think it is the best move they can make. That little thing would almost be hard to beat. I would be more than happy to let one share space in my garage.

It is a VM-Moturi Italian Diesel, A sub of DC.

Almost the same subject, Where is my camera when I need it!

I just saw TWO bright yellow unmistakeable Jeeps (Rescue??) that were narrower than a H2, a bit shorter in stance, had grill covers hiding an unmistakeable jeep grill ( though the H2 copied as well). It looked like a Liberty with an attitude (they need one).

I believe I smelled diesel fumes ( I was driving my diesel so who knows) and they had no badging at all.

They are being tailed by another vehicle, a grey Chevy Colorado pulling an unmarked white trailer just like the two jeeps(?) were pulling.

Most likely mules that are in AZ for hot weather testing.

Occasionally I see mules being driven around the country for a variety of tests. I once was staying at a motel in Colorado Springs, Co and there were five (5!) Mercedes sedans half covered with black vinyl masks that were getting set to run Pikes Peak.

Cool.

I'd love to see one of those when they come out!

If it was to be a new Jeep w/CTD I'd much rather see the Unlimited or Wrangler in the Rubicon version, not a IFS Jeep, but that's the rock crawler in me speaking.

Could you imagine the how the IFS will blow apart with all that power running to it?

With the price of gas these days, more and more people might switch to diesels as the reputation gets better.

I pay 1. 69/gal and get 16-19. 5 mpg with my 7500lb truck.

Wife pays 1. 89/gal and gets 12mpg in her Toyota 4-runner.

It's cheaper all around to drive my truck!:D

My brother can't get a Ram but will be trading his Liberty for a new Diesel version. Thanks for the heads up. It sure is neat living near Detroit and seeing the new vehicles before they are officially released.

yup, the grand cherokee is also a complete redesign with IFS for '05:mad:

I would like to see a diesel TJ Rubicon unlimited:D with a DANA 60 rear and a real DANA 44 front.

a Hemi unlimited would be cool too, but I'd settle for one with the 4. 7L.

Jeep only has a few good years left and then it will be all IFS. Hell they may be going to AAM axles in the TJ soon:{

Jeep Rescue with a ETH... ... only I'll let my wife trade her Tahoe in on.

Can't wait for my truck... ... ... . finally got too paint stage on insight.

Anybody got a guess on how much longer?!?

Mine was at that stage on 5/1 and I should take delivery in Lawrence, KS on Friday---probably get to the dealer on tuesday.

I saw you lived in Missouri AKA. --Misery :) --I am a Kansan. Seems like the railcars get up to MO pretty fast.
