My truck came with the rear seat flip out floor that offers a nice level storage space for tool boxes, gun cases and potted plants. Unfortunately the smooth finish on this metel floor will allow any container on it to slide around like a new born calf on ice.

I would like to know what others have done to correct this poor design and how the fix seems to last over time.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I just use some of the light weight rubber web stuff used in RV shelves and boats to keep things from sliding around. Just roll it up and put behind seats when not in use. Cheap, light, and can cut to size.

Had mine sprayed with Rhino Lining. Keeps things from sliding really well.

I keep one of those quilted moving blankets folded in half. Cushions and keeps thing from sliding real well plus I can use it to sleep on when the wife kicks me out for spending so much on my truck! ;)

I use tread tape, sort of like this stuff:

I used the 2" wide 3M brand tape from Home Depot. Cut strips and stick it to the high part of the ribs. I had to temporarily put some Scotch tape down the edges to keep them from lifting up (this tape is tough!). After a day or two, I removed the Scotch tape and the tread tape has stayed put for 2 years now.

I did the same on mine. . works great!

Thank you all for the good ideas. I think I will try the tape as I already have a lot of "junk" ah, I mean valuable neccessities squirreled away under the seat.

The tape seems like it would be quick and cost effective.

Thanks again. :)

I have tired the blanket trick, it works, except when the dog rides back there. Whenever I slow down, he jumps up to see whats happening that he should know about. Of course, then starts sliding around and the blanket ends up bunched up where it doesn't do him any good. Went to putting a doggy bed back there and he likes it a whole lot better and he doesn't slide when he stands up. One drawback is that it doesn't roll up nice and small like a blanket.
