For the past few weeks i have noticed everytime my trans shifts into overdrive it slips going into gear but if i let off the throttle and let it stay in od for a few seconds i can lay on the pedal without it slipping. Any ideas? doesnt slip in any other gears.

My 99 did that too... it was computer programming of all things... they reflashed the computer and all was fine for over 80k on that transmission.

what do you mean by slipping? does the rpm's go up for a second then grab the gear? but i agree if you have the edge & TST with no transmission upgrades your just looking for trouble.

The rpms shoot up and alot of vibration until i let off the pedal... . My edge is on the lowest setting and i run tst on 2x2. Im looking to do transmission upgrades but not sure what direction to go.

As a guess the TC is toast. The vibration is probably the TC trying to lock on a slipping clutch. If it is the OD doing it you have some major trans problems.

That's what my transmission did on a previous truck, the TC clutch was burned and slipping. It also vibrated. After it locked up it worked fine again. Had to get a new TC.

Mine is doing the same thing even with Juice on level 1. I'm trying to torch it though so I can get that DTT in there..... :-laf

I am interested in talking to DTT/ I am in Vancoouver, Wa. , but am having the slippage problem. I am running stock with only 16,000 mi on an '05,2500, 325/610 diesel, 48RE. Silver.

I can run up to 60 mph under normal acceleration, and have to let off to let it lock up.

LCrisp, with 16,000 miles on a stock 2005 you should take it to the dealer to be fixed under warranty before throwing money at a problem (If you even have a problem). The stock transmission should be able to easily handle stock power. It's not a weak transmission and it doesn't sound like you have a TC slipping problem either. The TC doesn't lock up under acceleration until you are going pretty fast and if you are accelerating and let up on the pedal they do normally lock up at that point. Without actually driving your truck it almost sounds like you are describing normal operation.

His truck IS NOT stock powerwise and having the dealer fix it is a guaranttee that he Will be spending the money anyways a little later down the road! the torque converter does lock up in 3rd and 4th under accelleration. and there should be NO rpm flare and vibration during a shift.

Well excuse me, Scrappy. I replied to a post where someone said he thought his stock TC was slipping on a new truck with 16K on it. I guess I'm not a mind reader and assumed when he said STOCK it was still under warranty. BTW I am very familiar with both the 47RE and the 48RE and and have been inside both numerous times so I am not a novice. I won't waste my time saying more since you seem so intent on blowing people off.

No problem Scrappy, I responded in the heat of the moment. On the thread showing on my computer LCrisp doesn't have a signature so when he said stock I figured stock and for that warranty makes sense of course. :)
