Last week the trans in my 96 slipped out of drive.

This has never happened before.

It has happened three times now.

It has not occurred while underway, just at a stop.

At idle, in gear, i depress the throttle and the truck is in neutral.

Would this be transmission problem (47RE), or something with the gear selector lever?

230,xxx miles.

Thank you.

I would guess that with the mileage you have that it is in the shift linkages, also could involve a motor or transmission mount getting bad. bg

Make sure the fluid level is correct and at the top of the hash marks. Also, a loose filter can do this.
