i never noticed how bad my 99 dually steered until we got our 04. 5! it sucks!!!!

what is the best way to fix this? i have the borgston steering shaft in already. i dont have any drift while driving but i have a good 5 inches of side to side in my steering wheel before it grabs and turns the wheels while moving. will lukes link solve the problem? if so, anyone have any contact info on it? also i also found in searching a canidian company makes a replacement pitman arm to take up some slop. will that help? anyone with a link to that company? maybe the two of products used in conjuction i'd have a drivable truck. TIA... james:D

stering fix

Just got my 01 back from the dealer last week,i have 18,000 miles on it and they installed a new stering box and track bar under waranty. The serivce rep said not a perment fix,the 24vale CTD are to heavy. Man,it sure feels alot better. I also had 3in. of play in the wheel.

Get a DSS( Darrens Steering Stabilizer) from Solid Steel Industries. There's lot of threads about them already. They will more than likely fix your problem and make your steering box last alot longer. Jim

DSS

You can buy a DSS from Rip Rook of Sourceautomotive... in Portland, OR he will ship it right out to ya.

I would guess the problem is the trac bar. Lukes Link will probably fix it just fine. I went with a DT trac bar and it did the trick but a lot more expensive than a Lukes Link. I also have a DSS on mine and it is worth every penny it costs. The DSS won't help much though if the trac bar is loose so you need to address the trac bar if it has any play whatsoever at the upper ball joint end. Hope this helps.

I had a trac bar, steering box and a drag link installed to stop my loose steering. They too told me that the trac bar is a "maintenance" type item. But it fixed it.
