My steering is really sloppy to the right... fine to the left... any ideas?

I checked the rag joint and it is fine... I wouldn't think the box would be bad to one side and not the other

Thanks

Yes... DON"T take any right turns!!!! :-laf :-laf

While the truck is sitting on pavement with the engine off and the column unlocked you need to have someone "play" with the steering wheel while you look at the newly installed steering shaft and make sure nothing is loose.

DO IT NOW! It sounds like a safety issue.

Make sure it's really only in one direction... . but it may be sloppy both ways... just masked going left.

Wonder if the Borgeson yoke is staying tight on the gear box spline.

not sure where you got that info... I haven't replaced anything in the steering since I got it in July

Also I am pretty sure it is to the right only as I have been driving it since July.

I think he cornfused you with WyattEarp. I don't know how, you're a dentist and he's a lawman :-laf

Travis. .

That's funny, I don't care who you are, that's funny! :-laf Sorry I can't add to the thread too much. I'd look for something bent or binding, sometimes you can turn it easy one way, and hard the other way. I've never messed with a 2wd before.

That must be it... I'm easily cornfused. :-laf :-laf

But the troubleshooting technique still stands... you need to do that before you draw any conclusions. (pun intended)

I am really starting to get the feeling this is a steering box problem. Does anyone know if one from say a 78 2wd D250 would work?
