Cold around where I live is 35° F. If I don't plug my truck in, but follow the cold start procedure, the starter turns the truck over at regular speed for about one rotation and then you can hear it load up (the starter) and almost stall. If I turn the key off and back on quickly, the starter will go ahead and crank the engine over. the problem seems to be in the ingnition switch, like the starter is not getting enough battery power. I have Larry B's contacts, Optima batteries, and clean cable connections. I'm also using synthetic motor oil. I've owned the truck since brand new and this is the first year I've had to do this in the winter. In fact, the first three years I owned the truck I couldn't plug it in because I lived in an aparment.

You may wanna do a starter current draw test. You need to see if you are pulling enough amps or pulling too much amps. It only takes a couple of minutes to do. Probably will have to take it to a garage to do this.

My truck pulled around 360 amps when she was warm.

well, I read the visor directions again this morning and had been forgetting to crack the throttle 1/4. this seemed to solve the problem.
