Slow service on a lift pump

I need a lift pump but dc want me to leave the truck almost all day so thay can check it. Then thay will order one. One day to walk over to the truck and look at my pressure guage on the piller seems a little long. and thay have to do this just to order it. At that rate it will probly take a week to put it in. Is there any way to get dc to replace a lift pump a little faster? I would even put it in myself but I would like them to pick up the tab for the part. I will have to just pay for it and do it my self If that much down time is needed. Thanks for any ideas.

If you want them to pick up the tab then you have play there game. If you want to replace it your self get a lift pump from cummins, takes about one hour to replace.

If there going to charge you to replace the lift pump they will stick you with about $450. 00 bill, at cummins the pump is approx. $130. 00.

The pump replacement should be replaced under the 100,000 mile engine warranty for free.

My story.



I checked mine an it was at 8 psi. Took it to dealer he checked it and said it was at 13 psi everything ok. Cost me $78. 00.



I took it to cummins they found it to be at 7 psi. One hour min. charge



Then went to different dealer they checked it and replaced it in

3 hrs. FOR FREE.



What I'm saying is you need to find a good dealer in your area.

Maybe someone here knows of one in your part of town.



It cost me two days time and over $ 150 for the free pump.



If you know yours is bad maybe doing your own warrentee might be cheaper. Just a thought.

SEmerson,where in so cal are you?. got mine form murrays in chatsworth $140 next day,better then $350+ from dealer.

Just a little to far to chatsworth,if the dealer won't replace the pump i think there is LOT'S of cummins service centers near you that you could get a pump from,it's a very easy thing to do.

My pump showed 9 psi at idle and 1 psi at WOT,if it's not less then 5psi at idle i don't think the dealer would replace it,(i think)unless you have a good dealer to work with. i don't trust the dealers to much.
