fuel filter change

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about a no start situation. At first I thought it was a new set of batteries that crapped out. After changing them it was really slooow to start. I was able to get into a good diesel shop and after running some tests etc. the tech told me that he suspected the crossover tubes and possibly injectors. He said that it was becoming a common problem for trucks with my mileage. He got into the tubes and injectors and called me to come and see what he found. At least three of the tubes were suspect and the injectors he wasn't sure about. After a lengthy discussion I asked for all new tubes and injectors since everything was apart. The shop called me about four hours later to come and get the truck. After using the truck for a few days all I can say is WOW! This engine has never started so well, ran so well or been this quiet since I got it new. It was expensive but worth it although these things should last longer. I am going to look for a 2 micron filter set up to possibly prevent a reoccurance.

I don't think the 2 micron filter is going to change things. What we are finding is the ULSD is wearing out the seal in the fuel return or bypass in the CRD diesel injectors. Bosch needs to step up and re engineer this area to stop this problem.
