Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) slow start

I have a '97 & when I first fire it up it idles slow for a minute then speeds up. It only happens a first start up. after that it's fine. Is there something I need to look at I have a friend that has a '99 that fires right up when cold. Mine seems to take it's time

So does my 97. Try your grid heater. See if that is taking a draw on the batteries when you turn the key up. If so then you may be losing a little bit of prime in the fuel system. My 98 and 96 and 90 start right up when it is cold but not that stubborn 97 of mine! My buddies 97 seems to do the same thing!

How long has it been sense you changed your fuel filter? That is the first thing that happens to me- it is telling me it is time to change it. At this point, it isn't long.

Where are you. Here in Texas that is a common issue with the grids. Colder climates make a difference.
