Has anyone else been experiencing slow mail delivery, especially back east?

I've got hundreds of dollars in payments (credit card, phone co, other stuff) stuck out somewhere in la-la land. Even local mail seems to have degenerated to a crawl at times. The wife's cell phone payment has now been more than 3 weeks in the mail... within the state!

We were trying to transfer to an online bank to take advantage of free online bill payment, but our stuff has never gotten there. My puny and shrinking 401K is stuck somewhere in the middle of transferring and the authorization papers are who-knows-where...

It would be my luck i'm actually alone in this... but I'm guessing not.

Well... I feel better now. Maybe.

You're not alone

We've had several checks we sent disappear in to never-never land. We NEVER make late payments and I'm a little angry right now as I read a past due notice from our cell phone company... . arghhhh!!!!!

I've noticed everything you have regarding late mail delivery. You don't have to worry about late payments, they will have to go by the post mark date, but I have been paying things a little early just incase. I can't *****, since working for the Post Office has now become the most dangerous job in the country, as long as the workers can stay safe I don't care now long it takes to get the mail.

Paid the cell phone bill 10/27/01 and received a new bill today with the past due still oweing plus a late charge. NOT TOO HAPPY CAMPER!

Im looking for a check for big bucks from a recent job and the thing was mailed over a week ago from the NE.

I take the Washington Times daily paper and get it 2nd or 3rd class mail. Prior to 911, it took 6 days on average. Since the lamestream press ignores or spikes 1/2 of the news, most of it does not turn out to be "old news. " Not to mention, if there is a better automotive section in any newspaper, I have yet to find it.

Since 911 delivery has almost stopped. I recieved 03 November's paper on Saturday.

I regularly got sales flyers well after the sales ended. I got my cell phone bill 2 days ago, it was due the day I got it!!

Everything I get goes through the Trenton mail system (anthrax infected) so at least there is an excuse now.

Get your Christmas cards out NOW!

I guess the USPS is not the only one with snail service. On three occasions now since 911 I've ordered parts Fedex overnight Saturday delivery and they haven't showed up until 4 pm Monday or Tues am. Needless to say, Fedex didn't get any revenue for those boggled transactions.

I can understand the USPS problems back east, but how does that affect local service in Oregon? This service problem is only going to drive more and more people away from USPS to overnite and electronic services. It'll end up in a downward spiral of shrinking revenues and slower services that will put the USPS out of business.

Get your Christmas cards out now!

I may have solved my snail mail on the cell phone bill. They were billing the 10th we receive it the 25th and mail the 26th and they do not receive it until a late fee is charged.

I called and they told me to mail the bill to Bend Oregon instead of Md. This should at least get the bill in before late charges are added. Obtw they removed the late charge.

maybe the post office just needs to raise their rates again to pay for decent delivery service.

whatever. It won't be long before someone jumps in with a private service. as the post office keeps raising their rates, it makes it more attractive for fed ex, ups, etc. to set something up. Then we'd have decent service. They were slow before 911, I think it's just an excuse now... .

I've had good results using electronic bill paying. Cost is just slightly more than a postage stamp. My bank garantees payment, and will pay any interest or late fees, as long as the payment is scheduled at least 5 business days before the payment is due. Works for me.
