New feature Request - 'view new posts'

I was going to say something as well....

Slow as molasses! In fact I've even left the site thinking that there were major 'doings' going on. I use a 56k at home but a T1 at work. Both move at the same rate.

The site has continued to have slow periods (even when the search engines weren't crawling us) and I spent all night tracing it to figure out the problem. I have figured out the problem now. One of our regular users PC's which is setup as a web server is blasting us with traffic. It has transfered 2. 8Gb of data this month or 6% of our traffic! It probably has a virus of some sort on it which is causing the problem. As a comparison I transfered 670Mb to my pc in 31 days last month. I have contacted our co-lo facility and they will be blocking that IP address in a couple of hours. The server load is low right now but could spike at any time. I'm going to bed soon and will try to get up in a few hours to make sure that things are going ok.

I'm on it - traffic shot through the roof tonight. Our memory usage has gone up 40% from the previous peak tonight and the server is swapping memory to disk. We'll be putting more memory into the server in the next couple of days. Didn't expect traffic to spike so high so quickly.

I rebooted mysql to clear the cache out and free up memory. I've also changed a couple mysql settings to free up memory although it will work a bit slower (shouldn't be too noticeable) until we can get the ram installed.

TDR slow down

Yes the site slows down at times, and this is with a satellite internet connection, and I can go to another site and its up to speed! The Real PITA is now TDR has popup's I don't know how they come in but they should not on a paid for site! !

POP UPS

Thanks Steve. we have been to that site and done the down load

but we must be picking them back up as soon as we go to our Yahoo home page?? thanks for the reply. GWD:)

It must have been something on the net for both of you guys because there's been 336 posts today and noone else has complained. None of the log files or status screens show anything that would indicate a slow down (meaning the request mustn't have hit the server - otherwise it would indicate a slowdown). I'll keep my eye on it though.

Happened to me too.

And I have DSL.

It only seems to happen when replying not viewing the site.

Steve,

I keep getting notices that new replies have been made to a certain thread, but they haven't. I've probably gotten 6 or 8 of them today saying new reply but when I go there nothing has changed. Here is the thread it is directing me to.

New Reply Thread

As you can see no one has replied to it today.

Would you forward those emails to me at -- email address removed -- ? I want to see what times they are and who replied. It's possible that someone replied to it and then deleted it.
