i used all new OEM parts. grille comes painted to match the truck color but the bumper cover comes black and needs painted.

i will be converting the head lights to the quad light sport version soon. i keep asking myself why i didn't order a sport when i bought this truck:confused: i've been wanting to do the conversion ever since i bought it. anyway,,it's done now:D

$1,100. @ wholesale prices plus another hundred for painting the bumper cover.

included all the sport bumper brackets and hardware from the frame out.

sport steel bumper

sport facia

foam inserts behind sport facia

new fogs and pigtail(different than slt )

sport grille,grille frame,secondary latch rod

all grille hardware

under bumper rubber splash guard

wasn't a bad deal for OEM parts. not sure if i would have done it right now if i had to pay retail price for parts:eek:

Do you know what kind and type paint was used on your bumper cover. My is so faded I would like to paint it. I have used black magic, black chrome and a host of other products with no luck.

I am confused. Mine has the SLT plus package, but zero chrome. Its totally black. Is it an SLT plus sport?

mine is a SLT LARAMIE,, i have not heard of a SLT PLUS. as far as i know they made SLT's , SLT LARAMIE's, and SPORT's. maybe someone will chime in here and let us know about a slt plus??

does it say slt plus on the cab corner badge ??

body shop used a primer/sealer,,then painted and clear coated. (after the plastic/urethane parts are sealed they use the same enamel paint as used to paint entire vehicles)

are you wanting to paint the black step pad ??

any body shop supply store will have or can custom mix plastic trim paint into a spray can for you. i have also heard that the KRYLON fusion (paint for plastics at local hardware stores) works very well ( if they make the color you want).

is this what you are asking ??

SLT plus is the trim package. . seats , overhead , slider window, wood grain dash, tow package ect ect. . nothing to do with sport exterior

mine is a SLT plus Sport with a few items here and there

Mine has all those items so that must be what mine is also. The only way to get the painted grille and bumper is to get the Sport package right?

The black cover on the top of my front bumper is what I am talking about. It is no longer black but a dull grey. Thanks for your reply.

What did you end up doing with your taillights? Did you paint or replace? I have been thinking of painting the black part of mine with the Krylon Fusion, but I'm not sure how the finish would look because the lights are not smooth plastic.

Your truck looks great - don't see many 3500 sports around here.

BUMPER

Paul I painted my front bumper top pad and the gray plastic ? part around the bumper with the Krylon Fusion paint. It came out real nice. I cleaned the bumper with 91% isopropyl alcohol from the drug store. I let the truck set a few days for the paint to set up and it is holding up good. Buy the way i used black because my truck is black. I saw a white truck that had his painted white and it really look good.

I called the "*******" today about a sport bumper ($305. 00) I asked if I could use the same hardwear as my SLT bumper and the parts guy said that he "didnt see wny not"... . so im stuck! what will I need to convert this darn SLT to sport! (parts wise) I figured a bumper, brackets, grille (70. 00), hood latch parts, and paint, rearbumper sandblast/paint along with tail lights. I would like to trade if anyone is willing (my 01 is like new!) and Im not going to go the route of hitting something just so I can get a new front!

thanks guys

Ian
