I'm sure this has been hashed out before but I would like to get a fresh perspective. What comes with the Laramie that doesn't come with the SLT that I absolutely have to have? The only thing I can think of that I really want is leather and I can order that with the SLT. Is there any thing else that I can't live without that makes it worth the money to get a Laramie?

Just trying to get everything straight in my head in case I get a wild hair and pull the trigger.

go for it. You are already spending 30 something ,whats another 1500. 00 or so. 15. 00 or 20. 00 a payment. and it will be easier to sell later.

wood stuff on dash, driver/passenger seats powered. everything else can be optioned on a slt iirc. i'd go laramie, but i don't want the wood on dash, and don't want the push button 4x4

When I spec'd mine out, I found a lot of differences. Audio controls in the steering wheel, bigger stereo, remote keyless entry, power adjustable pedals, leather , etc, and the list goes on and on. If you ask for Lamarie, it is standard, if you get a SLT, you don't get it. Try www.chryslercanada.com they list all the different packages. I ordered a Laramie.

As previously stated, you can get most of these items on a SLT, it's just standard on the Laramie.

It will be by the end of the year for sure. the only thing keeping me from getting it now is I still have the rest of the year until I get my Bachelor's and I don't want to have to drive the new truck to school 200 miles a day every day. The Ford is payed for.

The is a lot of things that come with the Laramie that I don't necessarily need or want like the wood grain dash, steering wheel controls (hard to find aftermarket stereo that uses those anyway) and such. I can get leather with the SLT and I think power too.

I'll probably go SLT.

I went with the Laramie package because of all the extras. I too am not big on the wood grain stuff, but if you get the dark interior, you can always replace the wood grain stuff with carbon fiber. That would look real good IMO.

Jeff, I got the leather on my SLT. I like it better because it does not have the suede inserts. I was concerned about how well the suede would wear. I love the leather seats on the SLT. The downside is the back seat is vinyl (though very nice vinyl) but I think the Laramie back seat is vinyl as well.

I also didn't want the power pedals and dual zone climate system. I read several were not happy with it. I'm perfectly pleased with the non-Laramie HVAC system.

I did spring for most other "Laramie" items:

Steering wheel radio controls

AM/FM/Cassette/CD

Infinity system w/7 speakers/

Tow Hooks

Fold flat storage hooks

Aluminum wheels

Autodim mirror

Leather wrapped wheel (comes with leather option)

Center seat storage (standard on SLT)

Rear sliding window

Security group (alarm & keyless entry)

The only things I know of you cannot get without the Laramie is:

Suede seat inserts

Faux wood trim

Body-color perimeter grille

UGDO

Heated leather seats

Laramie Badge

With the way I optioned mine, I save about $1400 going without the Laramie and only gave up a few minor things IMO.

Tnaks for the info, Vaughn. I think I will go with the SLT although I would like the suede inserts. I can have an uhpolstery shop do that later if I have to have it. The other stuff isn't necessary.

I went with the Laramie for the one purpose of getting heated leather seats. Did not want the other bells and whistles, especially the ESOF and sliding rear window. However, the sliding window can be deleted if you order the rear defroster.

I like the look of the SLT chrome grill, and chrome hood protector. It looks "right" with the wheel covers on the 3500 DRW. Personally, the standard items on the Laramie included some things I would not pay extra to get. It is all a matter of preferences, and thats why they give us the choices.

I went with the SLT because I didn't want many of the options that might be prone to problems down the road - adj pedals, steering wheel controls, ESOF, his/hers heating, etc. The better radio would have been nice but not to the tune of $7000 on top of the stock one. If you're not going to keep it for more than 3 or 4 years before the gadgets start to break, then it really doesn't matter. The first owner bears the brunt on depreciation though and most options have a very low return on investment. Go for the important stuff like the HO/48re w/11. 5 they are worth the investment!!!

I went with the Laramie - I figured that if I'm going to spend $39k for a vehicle, I want to get every possible thing (though I missed out on heated seats - didn't know they were separate). Resale cost wasn't a high priority - I plan to drive this truck for the next 10 years or so (just like my Integra) and I want to enjoy every minute. Of course, the very best option I got wasn't in the Laramie package - it was that big hunk of steel below the hood!
