Just got home with my 04. 5. Saw 1-2 drips of coolant on the driveway. Crawled up under and I see where there is some dry coolant ( Pink powder) on the passenger side, Looks to be coming from where the belt pulley attaches to the engine? Water pump??? Taking it in next week! ANything I should look for. . Coolant level OK. . currently 35,800 miles on the ODO. . I have had to add very small abouts of coolant every 15,000 or so... ANy ideas??

Mine had an ocassional seepage from where the lower radiator hose goes into the radiator. Not all the time, and only *very* slight. While it was in for service, dealer put a heavy-duty metal band clamp on that, and solved that problem. Now it's dry as a bone.

On my 04, in the service manual, at each oil change, is a note to check the water pump weep hole for leakage. I don't have the manual close by now, but that sounds like where it is coming from. I would venture a guess that they would be replacing the water pump. Just a guess, without the book handy. BTW, I have 48k and no leaks. Hope it stays that way.

Just flipped over 51. 4k tonight, never checked weep hole yet. Would even know where to look. According to dealer tech, that's one of those things they put in the book just to cover their arse. Still a good idea to check it though. But for some reason I always forget whenver I have the truck in the shop. Maybe this is jst the little incentive I need, knowing there is a potential for trouble. Good luck gettin' 'er done.

Update!

Dealer checked the truck for the coolant leak. Found it to be a defective Lower radiator hose and replaced. Says this is not covered under the extended warranty and thus my expense. He does believe that it will be less than the $100 deductible I was expecting to pay. Just an update because someone asked.

Read my post above - sure it was not just the clamp? As I said, that was where mine leaked, and a new clamp fixed it (they did charge me for the clamp, by the way).

As soon as I get my bill I'll report back. He did say "Problem with lower radiator hose, and it was fixed" I assumed the hose. But I will see! Thanks! MONTY
