I installed a new track bar from Carquest yesterday and I also installed a new Black Diamond steering stabalizer on my 2000 3500 4x4. The problem is now when I turn the wheel all the way to the left and then start to turn it to the right there is a "pop". Do you guys have any ideas what the problem might be?

something is not tight on the track bar or the bracket for the steering stabilizer is hitting something(track bar bolt)---turn steering wheel to left and then back and when you hear the pop--stop--get out and see if you can find the culprit(you've probably already done this)----good luckchris

Your right I have tried that, but I cant see anything by myself. I'm going to my Dads tomorrow to see if he can help spot the problem. I have also check everything to make sure it was tightened and no problems there. Just thought someone might have had this show up before.

I have the same problem, but mine started about 6 months ago. Then about a month ago it started pulling to the left. So I took it into the alinement shop and they said I needed a new track bar & tie rod end. So not sure what's up in your case except I found that the pop was when turning the tie rod end moved rapidly from one side to the other because of wear. I would get under the front & have someone turn the wheel and watch.

Keep us posted as to what you find. I'd like to know. I'm going to use the Luke link rebuild kit for mine.

I figured you had-

so it's not the sterring stabilizer U-bolts or bracket hitting the lower track bar bolt as it goes by

-have you tried to turn the steering a little-then stop and check the track bar--then turn the steering wheel a little more and check the track bar---keep doing it until you turned fully both ways---

and you can jack the front end up and see if it happens then----chris

like I said maybe I can give more info tomorrow. I will post as soon as I figure out the problem. It could be the steering stabalizer. I used the bolt from the factory unit when I put this one on. If I cant find it I may try putting the factory one back on. There was nothing wrong with it but I thought that since I had a new one I would put it on. But still if anyone can help let me know.

Thanks for the advice so far.

I get the poping sound/feel when my trackbar is worn out. I have been through 6 of them with this truck. At about the same time I start developing play in the ball joint end of the trackbar. Have you checked to make sure that you got the ball joint tight?
