Several people talk about the smaller pumps being limited to 400HP or even a little under. Today some friends and I dyno'd in Houston on a Dyno Jet 248. I was able to milk 423. 3 HP out of my "little" 175 pump. I hope to push my pump further and further, extending these limits (there's got to be just a little more left in her:D) . If anyone else has dyno'd big numbers with the small pump, I would definately like to hear about it.

cumminsgetme, if you dont mind me asking what mods have you done to your pump to get those numbers? I would like to get to that hp range with my 180hp pump. Thanks for your input.

azgearpro,

You can see by his signature that he has a TST #4 and 191 delivery valves. The rest is censored. :) hehe.

His pump isn't even maxed out yet. He has a few mods that will help him get more fuel that he hasn't tried yet. Not enough time.

Way to go!

Nice job on the dyno numbers! Sound like your little pump is no longer little. :D I'm curious as well what were your EGTS?

Excellent numbers Cummins... What was your peak torque for that H. P. I also have one of the "small" pumps and you have obviously done your homework well. Good to know someone with-in a hours drive of me knows a thing or two about these pumps. Good luck and keep us up to date on any more great numbers.

P. S. "Small PUMPS Rule" :D  :D ;)

Don't forget fellas, he has the #4 plate out of the Texas Red Rocket, Thats the secret ;) hehe

Congrats, Cord

Thats WAY kool :)

Do you really want to know how hot she runs:D . I have a DiPricol guage that reads up to 1500 deg and I tend to peg it pretty regular when racing. I try not to hold those temperatures very long, but what can you do... ... back out of the throttle..... not a chance:D . So, as far as peak temperature goes, it's at least 1500deg. I was not able to get a torque reading from the dyno and I haven't had a chance to calculate it yet. I'll let ya'll know when I do. If anyone wants to see graphs of my run I can post a link. Most "little" pumps tend make peak HP then break, and decline very rapidly. I was real pleased with how long the truck held substantial power. Around 106MPH it begins losing power pretty quick, however, this is also in the same RPM range that I get the agressive popping due to the plungers and cam profile.

I have been told that I have a hybrid pump with the small plungers and barrels but with the "good" cam. I don't have any popping at high speed and have pulled 3000 rpm in overdrive several times with LOTS of pedal left. With correction for the tires that's around 108mph. I have not yet got any info back from Piers about just what all of the differences are between this pump and the 215 but it does run real good. I wonder what it would do with a set of bigger plungers installed and if that is the only change that I would need to get the same performance out of this pump that the 215's are getting?

That truck runs to good for 423 hp, you must of broke the dyno, feels like at least 500hp to me. Great results whats next?

cumminsgetme,

Excellent work!

I expect to see a complete parts list and rundown off all the tweaks in a full report on my desk by tomorrow morning.....

Matt :D

Thanks Deezul1. What's next???... ... . shooting for 550 on #2, but I don't think I'll get there with this pump:D , however I still have a few tricks up my sleeve and would love to get her to the 450 mark when I dyno on the 15th in Nevada. We'll see, as long as I can beat 423 I'll be happy.
