The downpipe has to be shortened to run a wastegated housing, right?

Is there that much of a diff. between 16 and 14? What about EGT differences?

I'm pretty dissapointed with my low end right now, and I'm considering trying out a 14 or 12cm wastegated...

Speakin' o' which, anybody got one they wanna sell or loan me? It would be a 35 housing.

Thanks.

CB,

I have a stock hx-35 from a 97. I'm guessing that it's a 12cm, and it does have the wastegate. I didn't get a downpipe with it. I am going to put it on my truck, but switch the 16 I already have. If you can wait a week or so, I'll send it to you.

Chris,

Joe D. has done some good articles on this subject in recent or lets say less than two years ago TDR issues. I'd say stick with the 16. Just ask DP about the 12 he ran for awhile. .

I ran a 12 houseing and got 340hp and 790, but I think you will be better off with the 16 since the piers HX40 with the 16 I think it runns great and I think I have the best of both worlds. Wiith a 12 I think you will get to hot especially with those injectors you are running.

I had a 12 housing on and I made 340 hp and 790 torque and personally I think that the 16 is the best all around housing. I have a HX40 on my pickup now I think that I will go with twinns and see if it helps the egts issue, but for the Piers Dyno First Gen Day I think that the water/meth will help cool it down. I guess we will have to see who the top first gen is going to be.

A 12 IS fun for in-town drag racing, but that's about all they're good for on a BOMBed truck. You will find that a 12 will choke at more than about 2200RPM, which may work for you and your 3. 54s. It didnt do so well with my 4. 10s. i ran 10+psi ALL the time, though I could peg the 40 psi gauge in 3-5 gears. :D Oo. But it may be different if you hook up the gate. I didnt, as I had no boost fitting, and figured to control peak pressures with my right foot. I havent lost anything by going back to the 18. If you are having bottom end issues, I'd say get your timing fixed, then loosen the AFC spring tension a bit. What is stock flow from the CPL of the pump you're running? 2 turns may not be what 2 turns is for our trucks, esp mine with its 4 extra mm per stroke.

Is the 12/14 going to be included when you sell me the turbo? Though I'd like a 16 to try out. Or have you decided against the H2E?

Daniel
