At what HP do you need a billet input shaft???

1998 Cummins C3 Engine fuel shut off solenoid problem

I know this isn't the correct spot for this, but can anybody tell me the smallest truck with a diesel? My wife's HeadMaster at school wants a diesel, just not a large as out Dodges. Any idea's?

Currently, the only thing I can think of would be a Liberty CRD.

Older trucks, there were ford rangers in the 80s... I believe a diesel toyota and nissan/mitubishi as well...

But current production is pretty much limited to the 2500 series... supposedly Ford is comming out with a diesel F150 soon...

In the early 80s we used small Mitsubishi diesel trucks in our service business, we had three trucks. They did take a beating and I don't really remember engine problems, lots of transmission/clutch and peripheral issues mostly driver caused probably.

Don't remember exactly what year Mitsubishi quit importing the dieselsto the US, but we found out when we went to buy a fourth one. I think we had over 220,000 miles on all three before they were retired or traded.

I have a little generator with a 7 hp diesel, that I may just build a little truck/go-cart for. I know this isn't what you had in mind but when I saw "smallest diesel" I couldn't resist. :D

i had a moped that had a 49cc diesel on it. it took it about 5 minutes to hit the govenor of 35mph. back then i didnt know anything about diesels. people just looked at me weird when i bought 60 cents worth of diesel at the pump.

THAT would be cool! I have a 6. 5 horse Yanmar (single cylinder air cooled) and my Polaris has a 455 cc single cylinder liquid cooled diesel engine built by Fuji.

I would love to have one of those mopeds you mention. Where did you find it? Who made it?

A little off topic but I have had the urge to build a oil burner chopper just to be diffrent. hows that polaris unit :-laf

I was told Toyota would announce a diesel pu option in the second quarter. Talk is cheap.

I would consider trading my Ram for a Tacoma with a small diesel in it... those trucks are great!

find a company that does "grey" imports and have them bring you over a toyota diesel landcruiser or pickup. do a search there are a few kicking around for sale also in the papers , or e-bay.

some of the ones ive driven are awesome little vehicles. 3. 0L inline six, some turbo, some not, virtually indestructable.

a video that got passed to me about a hilux , they just couldnt kill it. sank it in the ocean, blew it up, dropped it off a building, lit it on fire... .

The engine in my Polaris would not be strong or fast enough for a diesel chopper bike. It is geared low for pulling torque and turns slower revs than other diesel engines. I would say you would have to have an engine about twice its size (maybe around 800-900 cc) to do any good at road speeds. That would be an interesting project though! Not gonna part with my Polaris's engine yet though... at least till someone else offers a diesel ATV to replace it with!
