What are the smallest tires that we can get away with running on our trucks? Do we have to stay with an "E" tire, or can we get away with something lighter? Are there any of the light weight performance tires, like the cars have, out there for us?

Thanks,

Ted

The front end of these trucks are so heavy you wouldn't want anything less than an 8ply LR D. You can run less air in the rear if you don't tow/haul but you need close to max in the front. If you have a 2500 you could get some 17-18" wheels and Toyo Proxess ST tires Look at discount tire or the tire rack.

Ted...

Not sure if you mean for daily use or what... but...

I remember that McBride used to run some real small (short) high performance car type tires on S&J'd at the track. But they were also on some type of aftermarket wheel.

Thanks guys. Guess the answer of Load Range "D" was all I really needed to know. That open up more for me to look at now. Look like I can go to a 235, or 225, or maybe even a 215 size tire. Thanks for the replies.

From what I have heard, you need to look at the weight capacity of each size tire and not depend on just the load rating letter. Smaller tires have a lower load rating for the same letter rating. If I am wrong on this, someone correct me.

Just curious, what are you trying to accomplish with the smaller tires.
