Smart Car Info

Anybody happen to know much about the Smart Car made by Mercedes?

My question is who is making the engine? I've checked all the sites I could find but this info remains illusive. I'm thinking that some of the European threaders might know

The Smart Car is a Benz engine. A few years agot they were doing some winter testing on one and they came through our shop. The alternator had gone bad, so they had to replace it. If I remember right the engine was a . 8 leter turbocharged little beast. They said it would cruise at 80 all day.

Did you drive it, any impressions, and how much work had it done when you saw it?

When I saw it, it was white lab coat, german speaking people all over it. All I know is everything is designed to be changed in that car in under 2 hours.



No chance to even sit in it. The dood driving was about 6'3'' by my guess. It didn't appear to have much rear seat space though.
