I hear about the Allison havng a "memory" that adapts to how you drive and sets up a pattern through a logic circuit. Other transmission do this as well. It appears as though once you set up a pattern, then the transmission thinks that's how you want to shift and it's somewhat of a nightmare to overcome this. Please tell me why I would ever want this!!!!! I hope the new Dodge transmission won't have this "advancement"

smarties

I had a newer subaru with a smart transmission. It was very nice to have a car that remebered that you drive like crap. It would take the car to redline even at half throttle because it was so used to me redline shifting. only downer was i loaned it out for a couple of weeks to an older woman and it forgot how to shift. It wouldnt go into first for 2 weeks and shifted around 2500. I can tell you though from experience that smart trannys do work as advertised. Now the electronic tcase is a different story. it wouldnt shift power until you were stuck. It worked on a 65 front 35 rear division of power and when you were going uphill and slippage did occor it would swap to 35 front 65 rear. this being cool on the road really sucked off the road cuz it wouldnt switch until you were so stuck it didnt matter anymore.
