Does Smarty do boost fooling? Since I have taken out the TST I have gotten a 234 code with just the Smarty installed.

No downloader can actually do boost fooling. You need something plugged between the MAP and ECM to do actual boost fooling. The TST was doing it, Juice does, most pressure boxes do it and I think Quad has a boost fooler only in beta testing now.

Boost fooling..

:-laf Yes, the software is fooling itself!

It don't have to do boost fooling, since smarty is in control of the ECU, if it sees higher than stock boost, it's OK with that.

Thats what I like about the Smarty, it is its own program in the ECU it doesn't need to have some of the sensor inputs masked to 'fool' it into making more power...

Now, if you mean does it fool the waste gate on the t-charger, well, I don't think it can do that unless you have an electronic waste gate controled by the ECU...

Just my $. 02 - even less now with inflation!

Thanks guys. I thought it did boost fooling like BGlidewell posted, but my 234 code threw me off. So I guess it will throw the code, but it won't de-fuel.

BGlidewell,

I am confused about the statement "higher boost without defueling". My stock charger zooms up to 28psi and then holds there. I have a boost elbow that should be fooling the wastegate. What does the stock boost table look like?

Avi

You give me far too much credit:)

I just happened to be researching this unit on their web site and knew about the FAQ wich I pasted in from the referenced URL. Maybe Marco will chime in with an answer... .

OPS,

our web site is missleading! The FAQ page is referred to the VP version ONLY! The CR is a totally different beast! We need to setup a dedicated FAQ page for it. I'll work on it ASAP! Promise!

To come to your question about the boost fooling.

It depends upon what you mean with " Boost Fooling ".

Today Smarty allows for more fuel at higher boost readings from the MAP sensor. ( Among with several other things that deal with the MAP sensor output. )

What Smarty does not ( yet ) is to allow for more boost than 30 Psi without setting the high boost code and defeulling then. The VP Smarty is capable of it. The CR Smarty is not... . yet.

I'm researching that aspect.

Helps some?

Marco

Marco, so because I'm pushing over 40lbs almost 50lbs of boost with my super 62, my truck is defuling and setting the 602 code? :( That explanes why I lost my top end power... :{

CHolman,

NOPE! Code P0602 does NOT defuel!

The ECM defuels the engine when a overboost code is set.

Normal fuelling is restored if :

1) The code is erased.

OR

2) Upon the next engine start. (Turn key off, wait 10 seconds, start engine. )

Smarty and maximum boost without a code

From my post on another thread:

I downloaded the Smarty version -202B "mild TM" and tried level 2. I was impressed - the smoke is more controllable and the power was nice. The devil in me told me to go ahead and try level 9 since I have a 2004. 5 with a built transmission and the air to burn the fuel. Oh boy, it's fun now. I left the Hot Juice/Attitude set to stock, but I didn't disconect my Edge EZ pressure box. With the EZ in cab switch set at the lowest and the Smarty on level 9 it's sure impressive and will break the tires in second and third doing a fairly hard take off. But wait I couldn't stand it and flipped the Edge EZ to the third position and tried the same take off. WOW - This thing is awesome now. I haven't tried the top end yet so some more testing on a more open road is in order. Just thought I would let you know. Bill

 However, I didn't have a CEL but I did find a P0602 code when I cycled the key three times. I didn't have the overboost code, (P0234),that was mentioned earlier.

I'm wondering if my Hot Juice/Attitude suppressed the overboost code because my SPS66 will easily pull about 47 psi. I had the HJ/A set to stock or level zero when I was testing the above Smarty version 202B. Just thought I would throw this out. Bill

Hot Juice/Atttude with the Smarty suppresses overboost P0234 codes

Marco - Once again you have the answers. I believe I'll leave the Hot Juice/Attitude connected on the stock setting for the time being. The truck is a beast now since it fuels beyond the 30 psi boost level. I hope that my ATS trans holds this power Ok. The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts with a heavy foot will cause me to buy some new tires soon. :--) Bill

I stand corrected! Not the first time today and probably not the last  .

However I will have to test it myself to believe it. TST will come off before the first set of runs next time to see. I am the hard headed kind :-laf .

Well I don't feel quite as confused now. ;)
