What were you doing when you blew up your 48RE?

First I want to start out by saying I love my Smarty I got on Aug. 12. I programmed the truck today and put it on program 3. Awesome power and throttle response to say the least. But I read in a different post that the 48re will not handle anything above setting 1. Could you please help with this issue because I am very concerned about the life of my transmission. I don't tow heavy loads and I don't try to go out of my way and race anybody (well maybe sometimes) but not often at all. AM I to believe that I should upgrade my TC or just take it easy?I thought it said in the paperwork that came with the Smarty said Smarty alone will not harm our trucks. I am very happy with my Smarty with the brief time that I have owned it, but I am a little concerned with that post saying not to use above number 1. I hope I don't sound like a winer!

I am pretty new to a CTD with an auto. My previous was an 01' with a 5 speed. Is it bad if it slips? what are the alternatives, upgrade I guess huh? My truck only has 14,000 miles on it.

add close to 50 percent more torque that comes on very quick... ... ..... any stock transmission will protest ;)

I can slip my clutch fairly easy on the 60 horse setting, and pretty damn easy on the 90 horse!

You have to exercise restraint and common sense with the Smarty, but just like the TST... I'd rather have 6 or 8 settings to grow into with mods, than pay not that much more for a mild box that I'll have to get rid of and upgrade if I want more power! ;)

It's not like ur blowing up your transmission when it slips. It's creating a lot of heat, which will cause premature wear. But if it slips once or twice you shouldn't have much to worry about, exp. if your saying your not going to be towing heavy or racing heavy. I had TST and BDDL before my transmission, and she slipped a little, but nothing horrible. My stock 48re seemed to be fine when it came swap time.

I too am curious as to how much slip the 48re can handle and how often you can slip it before you do some serious damage. I imagine that if you are fairly restrained, the transmission will put up with it on occasion. I guess if you have a transmission temp guage you could watch your temps before the Smarty and after and get some idea of how much more heat you are generating. Has anyone done this yet?

I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the quick shift from 1st to second with a high rpm after the shift. Does that mean that my transmission is slipping?. One last stupid question for now, what is the difference od 60 hp w/o timing and 60 hp w timing. What does the added timing do?
