Has anyone set their REVO parameters to Level 4 for the timing (economy) and towed a 5er with it?

Is there any risk with towing due to the higher cylinder pressures that increased timing may cause?

I would like to try this but am unsure if it will hurt the engine as "economy" and towing don't seem to go together intuitively.

I have the Smarty set to SW1, stock RP and TM and default timing now and want to eek out as much mpg's as possible.

Can Bob or Marco comment?

Thanks,

Louis

I had mine set on sw5 and timming on 4, the trip from Minnesota to Wyoming and back. This was pulling a 7000# 5th wheel the whole way.

No problems yet.

Any comments/help would be appreciated.

I ran DD/Edge Jammer 2 injectors (75 HP) with timing on 2 or 3, rail pressure on 2 or 3, torque on 2 and power on 3. I have since done more testing and am now running DDP Stage 1 (50-60 HP) and have found that with them, the economy seems best with rail pressure on 2 and timing on 3, other settings the same.

all i run is #4 timeing, stock wasegate, default rail pressure,

with mild or moderate torque managment, and on 60 0r 90 horse.

no problems

Mine clatters to bad to tow heavy with the timing on 4. The exhaust temp seems to out run my gauge on 4 also. I think every truck is different though.

When I was towing commercial I ran Timing on 4, stock torque management, and at level three or five depending upon the load - on five for a trailer 12K+ and three for all others. Mileage increased (depending upon winds) over the default smarty settings and considerably over stock. Few other mods on my truck, other than opened up airbox and straight through pipes without a kitty. Ran almost 40K from April until the end of August that way.
