With the Smarty load for aftermarket turbos it says it eliminates the need for a boost fooler and disables the electronic wastegate. Does this mean if I disconnect the wastegate I won't get any codes from it being disconnected or do I still need a resistor or like to prevent a code when it is disconnected?

Thanks!

you might outta ask Bob Wagner... he's a member here. Or you an get him here... Smarty Power he should be able to answer you question.

I was going to ping him if I didn't get any responses here - just figured there might be other people with the same question so I posted for all to see.

So there are really two questions:

1. If the wastegate is set to <44 psi I should not get any overboost codes - answered.

2. Will I get any codes by unplugging the electronic wastegate (it physically not being there)? Not boost related, but diagnostic related does the computer throw and error if it doesn't think there is something plugged in?

Thanks,
Bob

I have a 04. 5 600 engine, Iam currently running a SPS62 on my truck and all I did was to pull the connector out of the old stock turbo and plug it into the wire connector coming off the the engine. Wrapped and taped the connection and set it in the pocket next to the motor mount.

I have had no problems or codes set. Runs like a charm.

BSchweers,

Did you try running it without the connection from the stocker? It sounds like you have to or you get a code but wanted to make sure I understood correctly. I have also heard you can use a resistor but don't know the details.

Thanks!

No I did not try running it without connector. Industrial Injection told me to do this since I did not have their connector that they make.

Hope this helps.

You can probably order a connector from Industrial Injection.
