2006 Amsoil Air Filter Install

Dualls Exhaust

I have an 01. 5 HO with DDIII's and a Hot DDUFM. When I add the smarty software (4,6,or 8) everything is great until I turn the DDUFM on (any level). When, at a lower RPM like 1300~1500 in a higher gear, and I give it a little throttle I hear what sounds like LOUD pre-detonation. I dont know if its the injector pump or coming from inside the combustion chamber. Has anyone else noticed this? No codes, and it runs fine with either the smarty and no box or the box and no smarty. Once the rpms are >1800 or so, it doesnt do it.

I have pretty much the same setup as you and i get the same problem. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it don't. I also noticed that i have what feels like a "bucking" type feeling with the smarty at around 55 mph going up a steady pull on a hill. I say it's the smarty cause if i put it back to stock, the bucking goes away. I just usually speed up a little but it is kind of a pain.

When my VP was dying it would register inj. timing failure codes with any smarty sw, but not with the stock sw, so I tend to believe that all the smarty sw maps have more timing advance than the stock sw map.
