Well I downloaded the cold weather program and I'm trying tp put it on the Smarty, but I can't get it to work.

I was unable to find instructions on how to update this thing either

I downloaded the Smarty USD driver, the program (smte2. smt), and the updater program.

At first it kept on saying "can't find ftd2xx. dll". Well I put all the files in one folder, and that seemed to fix that.

Now it's saying "unable to connect to Smarty"

It's hooked up to a USB plug, and the Smarty screen is acting like I'm programming my truck. (Hmm... can I program my computer with the Smarty? haha)

HELP!

Nate did you ever get it to work ? I am trying to download now to update and cant figure it out niether. If anyone can teach me I would appreciate it thanks.

I can't remember for sure but I think there is a PDF file on the download page that has the instructions.

I found this in my Smarty folder :

* Before using SmartyUSB program to download the upgrade software, the USB driver has to be installed. To do this, please follow these simple steps:

1- Unzip the FT232_D2XX_Driver files into a new folder

2- Plug Smarty in the USB port of your Microsoft Windows® based computer

3- Windows finds a new hardware and asks for the drivers. DO NOT allow Windows to install the default driver. Suggest instead to Windows the folder with the files extracted from FT232_D2XX_Driver. zip as Smarty driver

For further details please see the " Smarty USB driver installation guide" in the Documentation section

Hope this helps.

To add to the above... if you've ever installed a USB-Serial adapter that is based on an FTDI chipset, you may have problems. I had to explicitly uninstall the FTDI USB-Serial drivers before attaching the Smarty. If I didn't do that, Windows would try to use those other drivers instead of the ones from Marco's site.

Then, when I'm done updating the Smarty, I have to uninstall _those_ drivers and reinstall the USB-Serial.

I have downloaded everything I believe from Marco's site. I do have a usb to serial adapter installed as well. I will try to uninstall the adapter and try that. I followed the PDF file on installing the drivers and did that first before downloading the software. I cant seem to get anywhere with it though.

I thought I would update the Smarty as I was having a hard time clearing some codes that my truck was setting. I would clear the codes and when I checked it again they were still there. The code was a P0122 I think. I know it was for the APPS and I am going to get a new one tomorrow as mine is shot. Hopefully when I get that all back together I wont have anymore codes.

You can not clear an active code... .....
