R.R. is it your B-day ??????

Happy Birthday, Rhondasway!

I missed the superfecta at the derby by not having lionheart in the top 4 and it payed $41000.

Anyways God must love me because I just hit the super at the preakness!!!! i was about to have a heart attack lol. I thought for sure it was pay day and I'd have 10-20 grand coming my way. It turns out that son of a ^$%&^$ race only payed out $460 lousy dollars for a $2 straight super:mad:

FDavid,

It's tough enough to pick the winner of a horse race, never mind picking 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. :D

You did well. Congratulations!

This winter I put an order in for 4 tickets for this years Belmont Stakes. Ticket requests go into a lottery. The number next to my mailing label was 600,361 The park holds about 100K.

I have not heard anything yet. They cashed my check though.

I'm praying my ticket request will be filled. We tried to get tickets last year. Cheapest I could find was about $800 for a $7 face value ticket. I would love to be @ Belmont Park in 2 weeks.

I was reading Smarty Jones was not bread for distance. I wonder if this will hurt him in 2 weeks?

hey buddy, i pray you get those seats. I've never been to a big live race (always watch the simocast and crappy live racing here at riverdowns) but i would imagine it would be a hell of a memory. As for me picking a super, i'm a horrible handicapper and depend more on luck especially when you got 50 superfectas picked out :{

good luck and hope to see ya in the crowd on tv at belmont!:)

Preakness was a blast - we were in the Grandstand seats; thank god it wasn't in the infield - it was getting pretty hot and humid out there. Losta "eyeball" liberty too - all those thin white sundresses with polka dots and flower bonnet hats - very nice.

We came home with more $$$ than we took there. But woke up this morning with a mighty fine headache... .

Everything I've read says Chester County too. Gotta go see if I remembered to bring the program home with me.

Great Picture

I love this picture. It's Secretariat & Ron Turcott near the wire at the '73 Belmont Stakes. Secretariat won the race by 31 lengths and crushed the world record for 1½ miles on dirt by 2 1/5 seconds. The record still stands today (2:24) and probably will never be beaten.

I was too young at the time to appreciate Secretariat. :)

All that bickering between the bensalem/philly crap... blah blah blah :) Confirmed he WAS born in Chester county though...

There is a video, "The Life and Times of Secretariat" or something like that. I bought it for my Mom and it is incredibly moving. All real stuff; a must-have for horse race fans. He's my all time favorite for sure.

Don't overlook Seattle Slew, who ended up being a better producer than Secretariat (too bad they lost the foal when they bred to Genuine Risk... ). I met Slew's stud managers at a repro course at CSU a few years ago, and they were still galloping him a mile a day (at 20+ years old), and breeding 70+ mares/year at $100,000 per. So sad when he died...

THANK YOU BELMONT PARK!!!!

YES!

I will be @ Belmont Park June 5th. Got seats on the 2nd floor, a little? before the finish line, between the 8th & 16th pole.

No doubt this will be the most exciting 2 ½ minutes I will ever see in a sporting event.

Probably will be about 120,000 people there.

CAN"T WAIT!

Rhondasway,

I have that video "The life & Times of Secretariat". I got a bootleg copy off of eBay a couple years ago. GREAT video!
