Well, after reading everything I could find on the Smarty Jr. I pulled the trigger and ordered. Planning on loading it into my 04. 5. Thanks to everyone for their information posted. Wasn't looking for wild power, since I drive long distances in the summer. Truck has about 52,000 on it and is also mostly stock except for brute intake and mbrp muffler. Pretty new to performance upgrades. Any other suggestions, recommendations besides stop smiling:-laf. Thanks!

Unless you are planning to do a lot of dragracing, etc. , the "JR" should do you just fine.

I've had mine on my '03 HO, since Christmas '07, & am very pleased with its performance. There is enough power to keep a smile on your face without having to upgrade a lot of other expensive components, on your truck.

I hope you enjoy your "JR" as much as I do (& many other customers) & see no reason why you shouldn't.

I have read about 200 postings about the JR and I'm totally sold on it. I don't think I read 1 negative post about it. I plan on sending for one in the near future. You TDR guys are the ones that sold me on it.

I have one as well and my exp. has been don't run the performance setting unless you do the transmission upgrades first. Well you should "try it" but any sustained use and you are looking at some trani failures sooner or later. JMHO

I am planning on ordering one soon. At the present time i have a Workhorse chip on my truck. Should it be removed when the Smarty arrives???
Is there a fuel economy improvement with the Smarty Jr. ???

I have a ? for other Smarty JR owners:

When I got mine I tried the tow setting first. I got only very little smoke even under hard excel.

THen I tried the performance setting. Great fun but too much smoke and I was worried about my transmission so I went back to the tow setting.

Now it smokes alot on hard excel. and even smokes some under normal excel.

???????????????????????????

Are you back in stock mode or level 1 or 2? I noticed that on level 1 economy, mine smoked a little under moderate acceleration, but almost none when the revs are higher and boost is built up (around 1800-2000, usually where I shift). Only tried level 2 for a little while the other day. Noticed that smoke was more than level 1, usually right after shifting gears and getting back on the throttle, but not as much when it was in stock mode with stock air breather. Will probably try level 2 again on the next tank of fuel.

Bump! Come on guys, any help out there?

Problem solved!! Added AFE Pro Guard 7 drop in filter today. Two HARD accel. runs and NO filter minder movement!! Bye Bye Amsoil filter!

I ordered a Smarty Jr yesterday, and am looking forward to the difference in mileage and power. Any tips on getting the stock clutch to hold, and what power level is max for stock clutch (w/G56). Thanks.

I love everything about the smarty jr except the smoke. I just pulled a 12,000 lb trailer through the coast range in the tow mode, and had plenty of power, and low egt's. Even on the flats, there was a constant haze that I could see from headlights behind me. I'm willing to sacrifice smoke for lower egt but i"m not crazy about it, now my bumper is black for the first time.

I was rumming the Granatelli big G milage miser, that had 50hp 150ft. I got about the same milage as the smarty jr, with no smoke but the egt's were higher.

My smarty Jr. has been on my truck since its had about 67,000 miles on it. I now have 81,000 and installed new clutch at about 76,000 miles. Before the Jr. I had quads 65hp tow module in use for about 30K miles. Never could get it to slip with the quad but with the Jr. on 100hp if I shifted early into 6th and accelerated hard it would slip. The stock clutch always held in gears 1-4 but not if undershifted into 5th and especially 6th gear. So if your relatively easy on it in 5 and 6 it should last longer.
