Smarty Jr.best setting for pulling 5th wheel?

The current software does have more adjustments, but that's not the big reason to upgrade. All of the tune has been redone, it's smoother, cooler, more efficient, quieter, and smokes less.

With the release of UDC updating the Smarty Jr has become very easy.

Install it and then open it.

Plug your Smarty Jr into the computer via a USB port, it takes a USB printer cable.

Then open the Smarty menu at the top of UDC, select update manager.

Tell it your model, S06-JR, then under updates select the only file there, then download. Once the download completes select update.

Then go program your truck. I would set it on SW2 Timing Default, Torque 3 for towing. Then enjoy the new tune.

How do I know if my Smarty Jr. has the latest software or not? I purchased it in July 2012.

When you plug it in to your truck it shows you the software, write it down. What is it?

I just went to the MADS website and the latest software change was in October so I went ahead and downloaded it and all went well. I also watched the available video on their site which shows how to download the updates and necessary drivers.
Note: I used the sw2 setting on my trip and it had plenty of power, on my way back the weather turned bad so I left it at the regular SW2 setting.
What I noticed loaded is when I run about 70-75 mph the engine runs cooler and does not loose power on the hills as it does say if I run 65-70. I suppose its an RPM thing... this is my first trip with the gauges and all looked well. Trans ran 150-155 and only went to 160 when I was in stop and go traffic. Boost is something I will get to know better... seems like the highest I ever seen it was 24 as most of the time it was a lot lower. EGT's were anywhere between 900-1100 as I never got to 1200 where I have my warning lamp set to come on. I have just changed my settings to SW 2 Tm2 Tm 4 POD 90 and will see how that does. Updating and changing the smarty was a lot easier than what I expected... as like most of us we want to make sure we are doing whats is best for our trucks. Thanks for the feedback and help as always!
