The PoD is very interesting. I set the timing all the way up, I think their is not enough timing on my engine so I will see if this helps. I do have the modded crank sensor, I just don't get that gnarly rattle some have. I didn't do anything with the torque but may change that due to the lower hp.

AH64ID,
Can you help intepret the "torque" settings on the Smarty Jr revo? The instructions say:
1-Stock, 2-Mild, 3-Soft(less than 2), 4-Light(less than 3)
From this, I assume that 2 would give the most throttle resonse, then 3 a little less and 4 a lot less. Is this correct? Or is it more like the regular Smarty where "less" means less "torque management" and therfore more throttle response on the higher number settings?

Thanks to AH64ID and p-Bar I have actually been able to download the new Smarty POD program for my Smarty Jr. Thanks to both of you. I have been putting off doing downloads forever. :)Oo. :)

Downloaded the 100 HP program to the truck with no problems. Then set POD to 80%. When the wife or someone else drives the truck it only takes seconds to reset it to a lower %. Very cool setup.

2 is the most aggressive, or most throttle response. then 3, then 4, then stock 1.

Default settings

Where do the default settings fit in?

TORQUE:

#2 Aggressive (Touchy Throttle)

#3

#4

#1 Stock- Least Aggressive (Laggy Throttle)

Timing:

#1 stock timing- Least Timing

#2 Smarty standard

#3 Soft

#4 Advanced-Most timing

Now for the confusion the smarty instructions (page 12) say for timing #3 has less than #2 and #4 has more than #2. Which would make the chart for timing look like this:

Timing:

#1 stock-least timing

#3 soft

#2 Smarty standard

#4 Advanced-most timing

Permanent Mounting?

I have been having tons of fun with my Smarty Jr POD this week. I have found that when I am backing up to hook to a trailer that it is way easier if I drop the power to 40%. It keeps the clutch hookup slow and easy. I have tried driving to work with it set to 50% the whole way, but I couldn't get it to warm up. The gauge was just starting to read 140 when I got to the parking lot. Usually it is at 190 when I am halfway there (15 mile drive). So, I have found that I need to set it to 99% to get it to warm up faster (it gets worse mileage when the engine is cold). This is telling me that it is running very efficiently at the low power levels, should give some great mileage figures. I haven't taken any long trips with it yet, maybe next weekend.

Now the question for Bob or Marco. Can you get me the cable pin-out for the OBD-II to Smarty Jr. ? I am tired of hitting my shin against the stock connector. I would also like to know which wire is the +12V so that I can put a switch on it.

This the one I got, and it works great! The right angle plug keeps it out of the way, and the 6' length lets you put your Smarty anywhere you'd like. There's also a 2' version as well.

Hp to the ground

It's up on the website... MADS Electronics - Smarty - CaTCHER - Download

Bob/Marco sent me the software to test last week and its great. I have been driving around on SW2, TM3, TQ4, and PoD 40 and love the way the truck drives. (doing the rough math that's 140hp to the ground) I have all the power I need for everyday driving, yet by watching the boost gauge there aren't power spikes, by me or CC, and that tells me I will be getting better mileage...

140 to the ground? you mean 340 or additional 140? Did this update give us more than 100 hp? what am I missing?

Ramon

He means 140hp to the ground. The POD program is a way to reduce the power from 99% to 1% of the downloaded power setting. Yes, 1% means that you can barely move the pickup. I have used a 15% setting on some very slick and icy roads to keep my tires from slipping (which I usually have trouble with). I just got back from a 280 mile trip with it set to SW2, TQ2, TM4 with the POD set to 70. So I should be getting (305hp + 70hp)*70% = 262hp. My hand calc mileage was 23. 6mpg! The overhead was showing 22. 5mpg. The best I have gotten previously was 19. 2mpg. It was straight highway driving at 3000 feet of elevation, an average of 30 degrees Fahrenheit, foggy (high humidity), and I held to 68mph on cruise control. I need to repeat the test and see if it holds or if I have a measurement error (like where the filler clicks off).

Eric, thanks for the link, I have one on the way.

Ok... . If i understand correctly, to get the full 40,70,100 you have to be at 99% at each of those levels. Wow. . there is so much tuneability that this can become very confusing but this is a good thing ;)

I still need to read the manual but I assume the 0 to 99% is on the fly but is the sw1,2,3 setting on the fly too? If so, how does it do it so fast now compared to pre POD version?

Thanks
Ramon

There is nothing on the market to match our tuning with Power on Demand. Everyone can fine a happy setting.

The Senior has Power on Demand too.

Thanks

You have to load a certain program ie econo, tow, or perf then you have 0-99 adjustment within each SW. Bob is correct in saying the adjustability is unmatched. The adjustment is not linear if I remember correctly. One would have to play with it a bit to find out what works. I have mine set on perf to level 80. I should be able to tow safely there I hope but have that extra oomph over the tow setting.

PoD can be done on the fly, each SW cannot.
