SMARTY-Just arrived, First Impression,,,

Smarty Arrived today,,,, 6 o'clock came,,, it been cold all day, well just as soon as the #9 software downloaded, it started to rain,,, took a quick trip around town being very causious, (1800 miles on truck, no gauges, wet road), I did crack it a few times and I am very very impressed,,, in my 2nd gen days,,, i have the edge comp which stayed on 5x5 all the time,,, This truck almost scarys me,,,,,, i love it,,,, i can only imagine what you guy's are doing with injectors plus smarty stacks,,,, This thing is unreal,,, the improvement in throttle response in fantastic, I have hated electronic throttle control since i drove the first in 03, this is as close as it gets to have a cable hooked to you foot,,,



Anyone looking to purchase power upgrades for you 3rd gen,, do you own research on here and other places,,, see what works best for you,,, but i very very strongly recommend the smarty,,,,, and thats after only driving it 5 miles,,,,,



i just donwloaded the #1 which is only 30 horsepower and timing,,, i should be able to actually mat the throttle,,,



First impressions are very important,,,,,,,,, smarty won me over hands down

I had the Edge EZ box on my 06 but I took it off after a couple of weeks because the power gain was not worth $450 and the truck did not sound smooth, I had more rattle around 1800 rpm which seemed odd, the truck just did not sound right , I think they have poor testing or engineering, so I switched to the Banks Six Gun and wow the engine sounded like it did stock, smooth as butter, and much better power with EGT's in check. But I want to get rid of the Six Gun now and get a Smarty because it is way too much of a hassle to remove if I need to take in the truck for service and I am not sure if the dealer will void my warranty if they see the Banks. Does the smarty add good power that doesn't make your engine sound like the timing is off or the camshaft is out of sync with the engine RPM'S? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I am still experimenting,,,, we've had freezing rain the past three days,,, havent really been able to DRIVE the truck yet,,, with the added timming on level one,,, i am getting a little dieseling at low boost,,,, black smoke equals a little rattle,,,, i remember hearing when i ran the truck on the max setting for about 5 minutes,,, it actually sounded more like a 2nd gen 24valve when you first matted the throttle,,,, as the rpms and boost came up,, it quiteted down,,,, i drove an 03 HO with the 6 gun and it didnt impress me at all,,,, my 01 with the egde comp would run circles around it,,,, had it by a full fender and almost a door running stop light to stop light,,,



I'm still really new at all the 3rd gen common rail stuff,,, but the one thing i do know for sure is i like smarty!
